Young couple visiting Plakias
« on: February 21, 2006, 10:38:52 PM »
My girlfriend and I have booked to go to Plakias, staying at the Kostas Chrysoulla (sp) for 2 weeks in July. Basically i would just like to ask a few questions to find out a bit more about the place.

1. Which beach is the best in Plakias and is the water warm?

2. Is there watersports?

3. Is there many places to go for a late night drink after a meal. ie any bars people could recommend that plays modern music. I'm not expecting lively nightlife because i have been to lively places such as Kavos last year and also quieter places such as the Island of Samos. As long as there are a few good bars we will be happy.

4. My girlfriend would like air conditioning in are room, do they supply proper air conditioning or is it just a fan?

Many thanks

Luke

Hi Luke
Welcome to the forum
You will find all the answers to your questions on this forum or try the FAQ file at the top of the page.

To save you a bit of time:
A1 - There are different opinions about the beaches. I'm a 'Plakias beach far end' person, great place for an all over tan and convienient for the Kostas, about 10-15 min walk, although the beach actually starts 2 mins away from the Kostas.
It depends when you go for the water temp. You should be alright in July, it's warming up nicely by then. I'm there in September this year so it'll be a very pleasant temp. then.
A2 - Not yet! But there is something brewing for this year.
A3 - There are numerous bars and Tavernas, my fav is the 'Levicon' for after dinner drinks, very laid back, great music and Hosts and comfy.
A4 - Never stayed at the Kostas, but I'm sure someone will fill you in on all you want to know.

Went to Samos in 2001, Pythogoria, great place, loved it!

Have a great time, You will love it, as we all do.
It's more Samos than Kavos!!

I think all rooms at Kostas are air conditioned (i.e. an installed, refrigeration unit). Our room certainly had, not that we needed it in May. I think there was a €5 per day charge but doubtless someone who used it will confirm.

I'm sure you will enjoy it. There is an excellent small baker's about a minute away opposite several tavernas serving excellent value set Greek menus. Go hungry!

hi luke - we are also staying at kostas chrysoulla in july.....all the rooms do have air conditioning, and as said above its €5 per day.  there is a few bars for evening drinks mainly the ostraco and finikis if you want a wee dance, and lots more if you just want a quiet drink - we'll see you there
