All true - and we've been to Plakias in May, June, July and October previously but (as we found this year) September is definitely the best for sea and air temperature. October - if the weather's good, is great - we had the entire tree area to ourselves!

I met a Cretan student last week, from Chania, and she also thought September was the best time of year, for similar reasons.

I went in July this year and actually found the heat quite comfortable, my only complaint was the tourist hordes in the Samaria Gorge.

Beachcombers,

I presume this is where Scotty lives now that he has deserted the caves. I have never seen it though. Where is it?

Scotty was pushing an old wheelchair around when I was there in June this year. I gather that last year he was sitting in it after having had an accident.
