Planned building in Plakias

Hi Shinaria

Good news, meltemi is still there and they still have not started building.  There are a few changes, the 'car park' by the Alianthos Hotels is being landscaped which will hopefully improve the approach to the village and the Mrytis Hotel at the back of the village is being excessivly extended, don't know when it will be finished.

The beach at the far end of the bay is still nudist by the family from Palegremnos have built a small beach bar just in front of the Taverna.

There are a few changes in the restuarants, the Tavernaki (which used to do mexican food) has been taken over by Nikos who used to serve in the Kafenion Yiallia over the last few years.  And up in Mirthios Wolfgang no longer has Panorama but it is now run by Georgos who has worked there for years and the food and atmosphere is great.

Just been on the blower to a friend (one of the locals) in P - he reckons that he knows the owner(s) of all the land around there and there's nothing planned.

the whole thing seems to be run under the umbrella of Mykra Ltd (who will do a property search for £450.00) who have s registered office near putney Bridge and there are several related sites - http://www. buyincyprus.co.uk - http://www.liveingreece.co.uk/ - http://www.learn-greek-fast.co.uk/

My take on the site is that its very amateurish with a hodge-podge of things from all over the place including "www.progc.co.uk offers you cheap flights and airfare deals all over the world." which seems to be an affiliate link to expedia, a link to greek tuition (which does not work), and a link to a  bio-rhythms page. It simply does not have the feel of a serious large scale development company

The whole thing has the feel of a one man band (nothing wrong with that of course - I've run as a one man band contract programmer for nearly 30 years). The site appears to be UK based (apart from the obvious co.uk bit) and is registered to MR M P AXIOTIS of  43 Lambton Road London SW20 0LW GB.

up to now I've failed to get through to the number on the site

I know a few people who run sites like this - they offer certain basic services (in this case it could be greek lessons and a property search service) maintain the sites themselves and populate them with click-thru links affiliate links.

This leaves the question of the proposed development - and there are certain puzzles

1 - the cost per sq m of each of the 4 apartment types is between 2052.5 and 2052.9 E/sqm - I find it very strange that the cost per sqm is so close for apartments of such diffrent sizes

2 - i can't quite place where on the beach it is supposed to be - there seem to be 4 established buildings (the red, blue and white ones) which I can't place - also the triangular feature on the beach. Also none of the field marking match up with any maps I have

It's all very strange

Hallo Dave, Ali, Paleo, coomunity
thank you very much for  your detailed replies. Good to hear that those fatal plans have not been verified yet... Maybe we will be there in July... Shame for Wolfgang´s restaurant in Mirthios...we liked his delicious dishes with all those herbs and vegetables. Dost he leave just Mirthios or Crete or this world? And also a pitty for the mexicomaroccoan-grill!
