Just come back from plakias, there is plent of apartments to rent also there is the Youth Hostel as well and if you feeling really dangerous thier is a camp site just out of the town.

We passed it while walking from Lefkoyia to Amoudi. We didn't go in and I don't think it's anything special from talking to someone who did go, but you can get there on the Alianthos Express which probably makes it a pleasant trip and it does help to support a worthy cause so maybe worth a try.
