I'm starting to look at car hire rates for our holiday in September.  Although I have previosly used Anso Travel, I see that Caravel offer similar cars at significantly lower prices.  Has anyone had any experience with this company?

We've used Alianthos for car hire for the last few years. We book our own flights and the first time that we visited, the driver met us at the airport and drove us back to Plakias. On our following visits we've always been met at the airport, and have taken the car and driven to Plakias ourselves - without any problems. We've always been able to leave the car at the airport at the end of the holiday too.

We haven't really looked at any other car hire companies, but have always found Alianthos easy and pleasant to use - we book over the internet and pay at their office in Plakias. The cars have always been good too.

Hi Allan,

We have just returned from Crete, and we used Caravel, they were great. Originally requested to hire an Atos, but they arrived with a brand new Panda, very nice little cars, in excellent condition.  They meet us at the airport, and they were very helpful. The car cost 300 euros for 2 weeks. I would use them again.

Another one to try would be City Cars in Heraklion. We used them last year, met at the airport and met in Heraklion when we returned the car. Little Atos, clean comfy, a/c and sipped petrol - 300 Euros - ALL IN. Got the same deal this year again for the same price.Speak with George on - citycar@her.forthnet.gr.
Nice guy , friendly and helpful.
Car came with a full tank of gas, map of the Island, emergency numbers etc. Was at the airport when we wanted and considering I booked it blind on the Net before we went out was very pleasantly surprised, hence using them again.

I have just booked our car with Caravel on the strength of recommendations given here and a very competitive quote. They will deliver to and collect from our Hotel in Plakias and their hire for 11 days is cheaper than our previous local hire for 9 days and their sevice appears to be excellent (very good email response)
