Lift Request / Taxi Share - Sept 2009

We arrive at Heraklion around 2pm on Sunday, 13 September. If anyone's arriving around that time and would be interested in sharing the taxi cost (and the taxi!) or has a hire car with room for two littl'uns for suitable recompense, let us know.

The last two years we've hired a car but fancied relying on shanks's pony this year. However, that wish doesn't extend to the transit from the airport.

be careful the taxi drivers will charge each party if they realize your not all together.

Thanks for the warning but as we've had no response it looks like we'll hire a car - maybe just for the beginning and end with pick-up/drop off at the airport or, seeing as it's just the two of us, the smallest, cheapest car we can get for two weeks - if you see a battered old Fiat 500 in Plakias, don't laugh - it'll be us

Has anyone tried the shuttle service provided by a third party through the Easyjet site?

At £25 a head each way from Heraklion airport to Plakias, it is worth looking at.

Thanks for the info, I have just booked my return transfer with them at £22.88on 27th May, I'm not flying with Easy Jet either you can just book regardless of who your flying with. Will let you know how it is.

Decided to take the plunge and book a Holiday Taxis (the ones recommended on the easyJet site) transfer from Heraklion to Plakias. Did this day before yesterday. Was quoted £45.60 return + a booking fee of £3.50, total £49.10. Very reasonable seeing as a taxi can cost €70 or more each way. When it came to confirming and paying, got an error message, and couldn't complete the transaction. It was late at night, so no one at Holiday Taxis to speak to about this hitch. Tried again today (when I knew there would be someone to answer the 'phone if necessary), and guess what: the price for the transfer there and back had gone up to £235.20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  'Phoned them up to query this but they weren't able to explain the reason for the sudden increase (the current price was correct!). So guess who'll be using the buses - costing a total of €22.40 - to get to and from the resort.

Cripes! That's only a few sovs less than I paid for two weeks car hire last September.

Well my story is very different, I booked a return transfer to Heraklion & it cost me £22.80 & arrived om time & I had a brand new taxi all to myself all the way to Heraklion, guess this will not happen every time but so far no compaints!
