Nice to be remembered by nice pictures. We like to return if possible to Krete.

Yes, from the Venetian bridge - we like our walks
The path we took brings you down to the track between the two beaches. The last bit is quite steeply down and ill-defined but no problem as you can see where you are heading. We had a drink in the taverna at the beach to the east of Preveli. We could have taken the car down there but fancied the walk and were unsure whether the dirt road was ok for our little car. Probably no problem, so long as you take it slowly.
Quote from: harribobsHi Liane and Gerard
glad to hear you are enjoying Plakias and the Peligramnos
we are not there until next week and will be in the Medousa most nights, just to help you recognise us
)
We will be there on Saturday evening and will be the ones hiding behind the group above.

I heard that at Damnoni [Hapimag?] were boats to hire. No idea what kind of ships they have in store. The company in plakias existed only a really short term and moved on to Naxos last year ... the link is still there [ http://surfen-segeln-kreta.de/ ]
There some nasty jetskiing round the beach this year, but I think they were private.

Why a Motor Boat when there is so much wind ?
Honestly you cant beat sailing, its free, its enviromentaly better, and its more fun, provided you have some experience
2 years ago when i was last in Plakias there was I believe a small catamaran for hourly rent, whether its still avaiable or whether you can hire self drive motor boat ...i'm not sure
Quote from: LenGIdeed a strange request. I hope there is not a Dutch taverne with bitterballen and frikandellen. The Dutch Taverne is in Kos Town, beside the Agora .......... so what do you snack on with your Amstel?
Thanks Mike No offence but now I know what to avoid in Plakias.
We hope to eat as much as possible Greek food. The Greek food just taste better when you are in the country.
The Plakias "chippy" is not a la Harry Ramsden - it is decidedly Greek - on a couple of occasions when we passed by, it was "Closed for Private Party"
Quote from: bigalStrange request I know, but there is a reason.Click on Article System above, then tavernas, and then Nikos Fish & Chips.
So, is there a place in Plakias where you can get taheaway fish & chips?
Thanks
I agree it is a strange request, but each to his own!
Mike
We all know how much fuel has gone up in price and the £ has fallen against the €. I costed my Olympic 2008 Plakias holiday against the 2009 prices which have just been released and find that the increase is 70%. I wonder what the increase will be for the "independents" and doubtless this will unfold on the forum over the months. I'm likely to pay the vastly increased prices but suspect that many on a tighter budget won't be able to.
It sounds from another thread that in the Netherlands there is a better choice of package tour accommodation than we get in the UK. Lucky them!
Mike
We've considered the Paligremnos in the past and it's a favourite for several forum members. It is a 10 minute walk into the centre which could be a minus point on windy evenings - but then, you always have the option of eating at the Paligremnos which I'm sure is a reasonable place to eat.
i think you're missing the point, no one is taking extra luggage, we've been used to a 20 kilo allowance for as long as i can remember
the allowance has been reduced, we're having to pay for what we've taken as being normal
ah well if you're "OK" with it, fine...........
