Where to eat...or not! / Re: Where to eat 2012 ?
« on: July 03, 2012, 05:26:48 PM »
Another Kastros visitor here.
We normally stroll up for a couple of lunches and also a couple of dinners, torch handy for the walk in the dark.
Wouldn't worry too much about the lack of footpath, you'll be unlucky if you meet more than one car on your way up.

Marge loves the stuffed Kalimari, has it every time. I've tried all sorts and have no complaints.

OK I have changed this so that you can now have a date span for your stay plus you dont need to link it to a post, came in handy for posting our just booked holiday... left it somewhat late this year!

Have you used yours in the bright sunlight yet? (whatever that is) and would it be too hot on the beach to use it?

           Barny.

Hi Barny,

I had a Kindle for the first time in Plakias last year. It was fine.
The e-ink it uses is not like a traditional display, it works great in bright sunlight.

It takes a bit of getting used to but i'm more than happy.

Temperature shouldn't be a problem, though I wouldn't leave it lying around in the baking sun for hours if you weren't using it.

Cheers,

Paul

Plakias / Re: Nicos - Ostraco Bar
« on: June 08, 2012, 04:23:12 PM »
Hi Keith, welcome to the forum.

I guess by Nicos you mean everone's favourite (ex)Waiter/Host from Sofia (& Glaros).
I'll see if I can get the Ostraco number for you.

As for posting photos, if the are too big for posting in a message you can try adding them to the 'Media' section.
There is a link on the top menu. You can create an album and then add items to that album. If the photos are too large then the software should automatically resize them for you.

Cheers,

Paul

Where to go / Re: Boat trips
« on: May 06, 2012, 06:17:47 PM »
Not in Plakias but from Chora Sfakion you can do a nice tour by joining the crew of a small fishingboat. Catch some fish or penguins and get them grilled right on board.

Penguins!?
Are they on holiday too  ;)

Where to stay / Re: Anna Appartments
« on: March 15, 2012, 09:27:40 PM »
We stayed there a few times before its latest refurb.

Couldn't fault it, the accomodation is great. Very friendly, the cleaner whose name escapes me was lovely.

The only reason we moved elsewhere was convenience (though this is hardly more than a 5min trek from 'downtown') and the fact that for the amount we used the room it made sense to find somewhere cheaper.

Just a quick message to Pete and Dawn. Their leaving the UK this evening for their new life in Aus.
Kali Taxidi guys and best wishes for the next four years and beyond. You'll be missed in Plakias by your numerous new friends and hopefully you'll remember us all and the fact that I introduced Plakias to you. Keep in touch OK?

All the best, don't forget to drop in now and then and let us know how it is all going.

Announcements / Tapatalk Support Added
« on: January 11, 2012, 08:26:00 PM »
I have added Tapatalk support to the Forum.

Basically if you are using a smartphone, (i.e iPhone, Android, Blackberry etc) you can have the forum served up in an easy to use way on your phone.

You could always look at the Forum via the Browser on your phone but that doesn't look great on the small screens.

More info can be found here

It generally is a Paid for App, though if you are an Android user you can get it free via GetJar.

I love the the "lost in translation" mistakes on menus etc.
here's one from outside the Atlantis Taverna earlier this year, I wonder if you can get a packet mix in this country.
Anyone got others?

I'd much rather a complicated sauce over some things this place has on offer:

This site is rather good for some funny and some downright bizarre translations:
