Location: Here on the Plakias Map Had three dinners here in September 2006. Located on the inland side of the main street, by the bridge and opposite the square car park. Since the tables are a little below street level, the headlights of cars leaving the car park can be annoying. Every meal was excellent. Divine tomato soup, containing extensive vegetables rather than pasta, gorgeous rabbit, kleftiko and stuffed pork. The tuna salad is too large as a starter, but the tuna content was really too small for a main course. Our second favourite taverna, despite the lady of the house greeting and seating customers with a fag hanging between her lips! |

Voloudakis | April 09, 2013, 09:39:49 PM We must have had an off night here. We went because of all the excellent reviews. Found the portions tiny, the food was good but other places we went to in Plakias were much better. I like Cypriot food a lot having been stationed on Cyprus, but a bit disappointed on the portions here, the price was also higher than we paid elsewhere. I am not a huge eater but did leave feeling hungry. Ambience was good and the place was busy. Understand we all like different things, it is what makes the world and interesting place. We may give Lysseos another go sometime in the future, but am thinking fondly of a few other Tavernas in Plakias. |
ian s | May 18, 2009, 04:51:37 PM Already drooling over what I can expect in Lysseos next month. In Plakias for 3 weeks this time so I can have my favourite(s) more than once! |

greekblue | September 22, 2008, 05:10:49 PM Probably our favourite restaurant in Plakias and one we remember from our first visit in 1990! Always excellent food and service, and prices are very reasonable. Good selection on the daily 'specials' menu. |
Mike G | June 27, 2008, 01:38:12 PM I've never eaten there but in mid May it was virtually full every night and had the highest occupancy rate of any taverna I saw. So, they must be doing something right! |
ChrisNJulie | June 25, 2008, 09:12:00 PM Would agree that on balance the food is amongst the best quality in town. Never saw Lito with a fag in her mouth but I wouldn't say anything if I did! I believe that Lucas her husband is the chef and he is known to use fresh and local ingredients. Allegedly unlike many other tavernas we were told! Indeed - highly recommended |
ian s | April 07, 2008, 09:19:54 PM In my opinion the best food in Plakias - there again I'm biased since I've been going there for the last 20 years or so. The menu hasn't really changed that much in all that time and neither has Lito, the wonderful lady who runs the establishment in her own special way. The difference between this establishment and others is that food is not mass produced or frozen and everything is freshly prepared by Lucas and his team. As a result it is not uncommon to find certain things off the menu if you are a little late in arriving - but don't be too disappointed, as it will be back on the menu in a few days time and you can always reserve your order. I've seen a few comments about the chicken curry, but don't be put off. Simply delicious - but then again so is everything! Already planning my orders for June - how can I fit it all in over 2 weeks. Rabbit to start with perhaps? But definitely the tsatziki - the best you will ever taste. |
Peter&Dawn | September 13, 2007, 07:52:57 AM Another one of our favorites. Probably the best Lamb Kleftica in town. The place was closed on 2 seperate nights during our 2 weeks, which we thought was unusual. Highly recommended. Pete&Dawn |
George | September 10, 2007, 01:45:35 PM I've got three big favourites in Plakias and the Lysseous is one of them. I haven't noticed any changes in all the time I've been going there. The food is good, hot and served very quickly, and Lito the multi lanquage owner is one of Plakias's characters, adorable, and she always remembers my name. Only one gripe, I do wish the chef would stop opening up the foil that surrounds the Kleftica, I miss the aroma that bursts out when I do it! Recommended george g... |
Noopsy | August 15, 2007, 07:37:50 PM ΛΥΣΑΙΟΣ - Ate here twice during my stay. On my second visit I ordered a Lysseos salad, and was promptly warned by the lady co-owner that it was rather large, and was I hungry? I said that I was. When it arrived it was indeed enormous but I found it rather dry for my taste: I would have preferred the use of olive oil and vinegar (more local) rather than mayonnaise. For my main dish I had a moussaka which was accompanied by rice and sautéed potatoes. Instead of the usual Mythos, I had an Amstel for a change. As I was studying the menu again to decide what to have for dessert, the lady came up and exclaimed, "You're not STILL hungry!" I laughed, and said that last night I had been starved (at the Tasomanolis). In the end I settled for a peach melba. Service here is good and pleasant. They have an idiosynchratic system of settling up: you don't ask for the bill, just go to the cash till inside, and pay there. My bill that night came to €17.60, and it was worth every penny. |
