Location: Here on the Plakias Map This hotel is in the 3 star category. Rooms are adequately furnished and kept spotlessly clean. Not all of the electrical facilities in my room were up to par, and during my stay the electricity supply was temperamental. However, the appliances that mattered - the air-conditioning and the refrigerator - worked perfectly. Contrary to what is stated in its website, the hotel has no swimming pool. Guests may, however, use the pool belonging to the neighbouring sister hotel, the Alianthos Gardens. It is available for use from 0800 onwards. Breakfast is served from 0800 to 1000, and dinner from 1900 to 2200. Both B&B and HB terms are available. The arrangement for dinner is that you make your selection from a range of platters of pre-prepared starters and entrees. (The dishes that you choose are, however, freshly prepared for you.) You give your choice to a rather grumpy old man who tells you where to sit. Dessert follows a 3-day rotation of a gooey ice-cream, fruit salad (as served at breakfast-time) or cake. This is finished off with a tot of raki. Any drinks you order with your meal is paid for there and then. The food is always served fresh and piping hot though it can sometimes be a bit bland i.e. typical hotel food. At the end of your meal you may have to wait a while for Niko - the man who takes payment for your drink(s) - to decide to come round to the area you are seated in. |

The Murrays | August 11, 2007, 08:36:11 PM Hi could anyone tell me if the ALIANTHOS BEACH HOTEL rooms have a fridge in them? I know the Alianthos Gardens Hotel has. We are going for 2 weeks end September and it would be nice the have somewhere to keep the Retsina and Mythos cold! Looking forward to trying the Craft Beer in ON THE ROCKS- nectar! |
MR P | December 12, 2006, 11:56:16 AM When i went with my bro and my dad in August of 2000 we stayed in Alianthos Beach, but we didnt know anything about Plakias for a start as it was a birthday present off my dad, but i agree it was a nice place, and the rooms were adequate, not that i spent much time in the hotel. The pool which was for the alianthos gardens, was a very nice pool, and i spent alot of my daylight days in there with mates i had met. It was always a race 1st thing in the morning to get outside before anyone else and get your towel on a sun lounger so then you knew you could enjoy your breakfast and then go and settle down in the sun for as long as it was out. When i was there for the full 2 weeks it was around 120 degrees C every day, and we didnt see one spot of rain, but being honest at night if you ever sat around the pool once the sun had gone down on some days it was like sittin in a wind tunnel. I believe that the pool which we were allowed to use was the best in Plakias because if you walked past and saw the pools within the other hotel grounds they were shorter and sometime very shallow. I said if you walked past the other hotles because when i was there it was almost impossible at times to walk to the shop down the road because the pavement was like walking on hot coals i have not experienced anything like it since i was on a red sand beach in Kefalonia.
