Nice photo and useful too. I feel quite stupid as we often walk over to Amoudi and have continued along crossing the stream there to walk over the back of the headland and not realised that Shinaria was there lurking on our right as we headed along.

you'd love it John, it's one of our favourite walks

i'm not an expert on geology but i think it looks glacial, the strange thing is the rocks are vertical.....

it's all close to the sea, there's a few coves, very private, but ( and i think i;ve said this before) if you think you have to start scrambling, and it looks a bit dangerous.....back up  and look again

the path is cairned but in a landsape of rocks, you can miss them easily

the road from the shinaria leads to lefokogia.....thats where you can see the water running up hill..........

Great Photo, nice to get it all in perspective. Saw them all from a boat a couple of weeks back but this easier to get a feel.

Maybe get off my backside next year and actually visit them

When I was there in June I walked from Ammoudhi to Schinaria. It wasn't easy as there is no proper path, you are walking on jagged rocks a lot of the time. It's also not easy to find the 'gates' in the wire fence at each end, and you can't climb over them. When I was approaching skinaria it took a long time to find the gate as all they are is a bit of fence that you can bend to get through and it was secured with a few bits of wire that you have to unfasten and then put back after you.

The gates used to be secured with rope, which made finding them a lot easier, but it would seem it has got lost!  

at the Shinaria i'd keep looking for the mud on the stones leading to the gate, at the amoudi end, there was a sign attached to the fence next to the gate...has this gone as well?

you should be able to unwind the wire on the gate, if it's that tight and then thats probably not the gate! ( don't forget to close it afterwards)

IIRC correctly there's a cairn of stones just behind the gate at Amoudi,  It's not so easy when you get to Shinaria

We found such gates on bulldozed paths. Stood on both sides of the fench on two seperate walks.   Firmly closed by ± 5 mm construction wires. To short ends and to rigid to open (and of course to close) by bare hands.   So I take my (toolkit) pliers on next occasions.   (Handy for repairing showerheads etc. in appartments too)

By the way we forget to mention that you made tremendous nice picture!

I carry a multitool as well for those situations where you need to get through  

gerber 800 it a bit heavy but it gets the job done!

We got to the top in about two hours (IIRC) it was a beautiful clear day...sigh....

It's true, the one fault is the lack of a corkscrew

so i get around by having a seperate screw in the pouch!
