I've seen photos of a place very close to plakias with waterfalls suitable for snorkelling and swimming, with crystal clear drinkable water.
Not the M. Preveli ones
Any ideas where it might be this place?

Hello kourkoubini,
I've also seen photos of a place that seems to meet your description:
I found them at the website of the youth-hostel in Plakias [ http://www.yhplakias.com/index0.html]

I think Chris [the master of the house of the youth hostel] can show you the way!

Asking the forum I got a reply from wakefossil :
Maybe it's the place where the drinking water comes from in Kourtaliotiko Gorge?
But that's only a vague presumption.
You can check it out next time you're there: In Kourtaliotiko Gorge there's a large parking area and a very small parking bay (on the right side of the road right at the beginning of the gorge when you come from Plakias). At the small parking bay a path starts that leads downhill to a small chapel below the road and further to the springs/waterfalls. Very nice place. Maybe the place in the pics is below the waterfalls (I didn't check if there's a way to get there). There's also a gravel track that goes off the road on the right hand side before the gorge (with a sign to some appartments, forgot their name). Maybe it's somewhere there...
But, as I said before, that's only a vague presumption.+

Last week we went up the river from Preveli Beach as far as possible [with our kids] and found some similar places and swam in wonderful refreshing sweetwaterpools...

Please let us know, if you find the place.

I know where this picture was taken.  The walk is more of a hike though going upstream from the Old Mill, it's about 3 miles of wading through water and climbing up waterfalls and is tough going and advise you do it in a group so can help each other out.  Well worth doing though as when you get to the end you get amazing views across Plakias bay and you're not too far from Myrthios for a drink which you'll need
What to do if you're trapped with no hope of rescue:...
Consider how lucky you are that life has been good to you so far. Alternatively, if life hasn't been good to you which is more likely given your current circumstances, consider how lucky you are that it won't be bothering you much longer!

Thank you very much! We made it to the old mill and the little chapel, but returned then to plakias. Next time!
shinaria. Does anybody know if the fire reached the area of the old mill?

Ali and Dave gave us a good report on the FIRE thread, evidently that's where it started.

I'm interested in going to this waterfall, what is the best footwear for this hike?

I was thinking water shoes, am I overly concern about this? Are sandles a good choice?
