Well I made it back. Got lucky yesterday and got a ticket on the last train out of Brussels.

Arrived home just in time for the airports to re-open

My wife & I first went to Plakias in 1981 and have gone back 4 times over the years since then. While it has got a bit bigger and a bit more developed it has not changed substantially. Lets hope the new complex over near the "far end" doesn't change it either.

Have a lovely trip,  Roger & Jean

Well, I'm pleased to say that essentially thank goodness, Plakias still has the same atmosphere.

The sea side buildings of the tavernas in the photo from Steven were just open canopies and there were no road markings that I remember.

I would also say the food has become more geared to tourist requirements, (but not mine)

ie less oily, served in courses and piping hot !

Anyone agree ?

That seems a fair enough summary of the changes to Plakias, it's still nice, it's still worth going back to, it's still friendly!

One of the things I haven't seen mentioned by those who have already been to Plakias in 2010 is how the development adjacent to the Palegremnos is progressing.

e.g. is it finished, is it occupied, and (most importantly) has it changed the character of the far end?

Does anyone have photos or, better still, a video clip?

I noticed that Daniel on the 'Where to Stay ' topic is going to post some photos of this development!

I didn't venture that far when I was there    !!!

We also made pictures from "new development". During all days they worked on several buildings.
Some of the buildings have got blinds, windows, doors and so on...

Hello Jann,

I suspect Daniel is referring to the smaller development between Palegremnos and Plakias Bay hotel. I'm referring to the large development on the town side of Palegremnos, for which Kerstin has posted photos (thank you). It looks like they are some way from opening (good!).

By the way Jann, are the promenade facing tavernas (Mouses, etc.) still offering those fantastic value set menus this year?

 Hi Mike,
Sorry, I misunderstood about the  2 developments!

TBH I didn't notice  the set menus , would they have been on the actual menu or on the boards outside?  Maybe Kerstin will have noticed ??

The set menu boards at the tavernas across from Ostraco's were not showing fixed price meals when we were there last week but that may have change since then .
It was one of the few things which seemed to have changed.
