Location:
Here on the Plakias Map

Generally very popular taverna run by Babbis, his wife and son.
This is one of my favourites as I absolutely adore the Spicy Pork dish. We also enjoy the mixed started for 2 and the Chicken Souvlaki with Bacon.

Babbis is a wonderful chap though I have seen him particularly stroppy on some occasions!

Despina still serves a wonderful spaghetti carbonara. It was busier in May than previously which meant the atmoshere was better.

Used this for the first time this year. The food is good, the red wine OK and Babbis is generally friendly, but he does get stressed when he has a full house.

We enjoyed the fairly quiet location.

Met up with 4 other Forum members (pre-arranged) here and enjoyed an excellent evening (although I suffered as a result the next day). Wasn't the food so it must have been the free-flowing raki that Babbis kept supplying. Everyone was recommending the 'spicy pork' so I gave it a try and it was delicious. 4 of us met up a 2nd time and the food was just as good although this time I kept off the raki and was fine the next day.

One of the best for quality of food but lacks atmosphere when quiet. House red wine is excellent.

Medousa is ideal when it's windy as, being away from the front, it's more sheltered. My favourite is the 'Spicy Pork'. The house red wine was a bit rough (best was at Mousses) but maybe we were unlucky.

One of my top three places to eat, when in town. It's usually the first one I go to when I arrive. Luckily (for me anyway) this year it was very quiet, so Babbis had a bit more time to chat and be sociable, if it's busy, and it can be with queues waiting outside, he can seem a bit offish, but that is only because he's busy. Lovely man, great food and a nice clean restaurant. The Spicy Pork is a gem, but it's difficult picking any one thing out, that is better than anything else, it's all good.
And by the way he is very generous with his homemade Raki, and it's actually quite good, so don't chuck it in the flower bed.

Enjoy!

For starters I had cheese pies which were OK.  My main dish was a spicy mezes "Medusa" which was nice and there was a good portion of it.  Plus a Mythos.  The bill came to €12.40.

Yes - this is our favourite eating place - indeed the only one we have been to in the last many years (except for a one evening contrived excursion away last year). I'm a food fad and Babbis caters for me wonderfully - knowing and remembering my needs after each year away. Gillian likes everything and munches her way through special after special night after night and is totally content with her food. She is a good judge - not me and has no desire to go elswhere.

Babbis will not suffer fools and his management of occasional tricky situations can be an entertainment in itself and sometimes occupies a full evening for us. Fawlty towers occasionally comes to mind. If we stay on for this entertainment then socialising with Babbis and family with raki and wine until the small hours is sometimes the reward. A wonderful place with wonderful food but you have to understand the needs of the owner as much as he tries (mostly) to understand the needs of his customers.
