Dictated by Pete & Dawn.

We visited Spinalonga again this year and came across this monument which has been erected in 2010.
I am intrigued to know why it's there and what the inscription says. Can any locals help me out or anyone who speaks/reads Greek.

Thanks!

Dictation ended!

I think it's something to do with raki or Mythos?

Transliteration - possibly not 100% accurate - I can read the alphabet but only speak a few words and phrases;

Dorea Georgias Elena Xanaki Katakesvasthi En Ete 2010.

I guess/assume words 2, 3, 4 are names. "En Ete 2010" would mean "in Summer 2010" in French.........

My dictionary gives "doro" as "to present", and "katakevazo" as "to make or manufacture". I don't know enough about Greek verbs to be sure that the words on the inscription are forms of those verbs, but it seems a good bet.

Nb. The most excellent book "Island of the Damned " by Victor Zorba is very well worth a read to anyone interested in the history of Spinalonga. H

My translation is:

Given by Georgia Eleni(?) Ksanthaki Constructed in ? 2010

I can't make sense of the word ete, assuming that's what it is as I can't see it properly.
