Sculpture in Lakkis

Spent a couple days with motorbikes on the west coast last week. Spotted this in Lakkis on way back to Plakias.
Anyone know history of this or the sculptors name?

I don't know more than that it's a memorial to Cretan resistance and their fight for independence.
No idea about the artist.
