Looking at the Board Panel I was amazed to discover that I was shown as celebrating my 4th anniversary today. wassat.gif But I've been married for over 20 years! shocked.gif And then I realised that the date referred to the anniversary of joining the forum. Silly me. : " />

Has anyone made this journey by bus? If so, could they tell me:
a. where can you buy a ticket for the bus; and
b. on walking up to the main road leading to the airport (I believe it's called Ikarou) do you turn left or right to reach the nearest bus stop.

Thanks in anticipation. flowers.gif

I'm surprised that no one so far appears to have mentioned the "far end's" latest attraction. I'm referring to the 2 pairs of geese that have taken up residence there. They've taken a gander whistling.gif at the rest of beach , and have decided that, clearly, the "far end" is the place to be. And who can blame them? With a stunning location to waddle around in, running fresh water to cool off in or slake their thirst (they haven't heard of Mythos), and the company of "cool" humans who feed them the occasional tasty tit-bit, what more can a bird want? grin.gif

This topic is for the information of those who have never travelled to Greece/Crete before.

Being such a person as described above, and travelling independently its down to me to do the necessary homework. Part of this involved running a routine check on Ceefax for immunisation requirements for Greece. Not expecting to find anything I was astonished to see that vaccination against Yellow Fever was recommended for anyone travelling to that country. wassat.gif So I got onto the DOH website for clarification, and found that this vaccination is only required for people arriving from an infected country, and specifically not for anyone coming directly from the UK.

So relax and ignore what it says on Ceefax. No jabs for Greece are required. thumbsup.gif

I'm holidaying in Plakias for the first time this year, and was wondering if anyone out there could advise me on a couple of basics:

1. Arrival. After the bus has dropped you off in town, how far is to walk to accomodation at the eastern end of the beach?

2. Crime. What are the levels? I mean, how safe is it to leave your things on the beach unattended while you go in to the sea for a dip, the taverna for a drink, etc.?

3. Insect life. Are there any mosquitos (they love me, unfortunately), and, if so, how troublesome are they?

Thanks.
