I'd been looking forward to this trip since I saw them dynamiting the road out last year.
Great experience and unforgetable and I think there was another small harbour and a couple of beaches which really surprised me, and an apartment block (Acopolis, I think) just before Rodakino.
I've always got a 4 x 4 just in case of roads like this as I do tend to travel about a lot.
I think I've got the same shot somewhere.
It's a great road, ideal for walkers as some of the members have reported, let's hope they don't develope it to quickly!

have they actually completed the road as far as souda now?, we walked it twice last may and it ended in a 10 foot gully :-)

Correct about the Akropolis apartments,  a friend (and sometimes poster on this forum ) was booked in there until i checked them out....dreadful place

Yes all complete now. In October we could hardly remember the difference between our last visit the previous year when it was fully open. You obviously found it different which confused you/me at the time. We walked it again and one or two tourist cars were making the journey. I would not have risked a car (somewhat rough in places) but a 4x4 would definitely be ok.

A photo of that very spot in Oct05 :-

A view from near that spot :-

superb picture over souda John!

the road it's self is a lot better than in May as well, all the last downhill section was still very rough, there were only dozers on it then
