Where to eat...or not! / Sifis March 2025
« Last post by kokkinos vrachos on March 28, 2025, 04:35:31 AM »
Kalimera, I was invited to dinner at Sifis yesterday.

The food is good, but the prices are now like in the Cyclades.

Moussaka in a small round clay pot a proud 12.20Euro (9Euro 2022, 10Euro 2024). Tzatziki a hefty 5.20Euro (still 4.50Euro in 2022), portion of Chorta 6Euro. You are charged 3Euro for bread and a small bowl of olives as a welcome drink. There is also no more olive oil on the table!

Conclusion: simply too expensive.

The Sifis taverna has had many regulars for many years, especially from Germany, as Sifis speaks German and serves simple but good, down-to-earth Greek cuisine. Another advantage is that the Sifis taverna is open all year round and is the only taverna open in Plakias in winter. Important for digital nomads and residents.

Gossip / Re: How did you first find Plakias?

This is a topic I started years ago regarding how people first found Plakias.
Now I see a lot of new faces on here and am interested to learn how you, too, found Plakias?

Where to eat...or not! / To Xechoristo: Update March 2025
« Last post by kokkinos vrachos on March 26, 2025, 06:24:52 PM »
Yassas, To Xechoristo was my favourite restaurant in Plakias for many years.

I ate a plate of gyros in 2024, but I was no longer convinced by it.

Antonis has raised the prices considerably and is now the most expensive grill house in Plakias.

Grill plate 11Euro (2023)

Salads 6-50Euro to 7.30Euro

Tzatziki 5Euro !!! (2022 still 4.50euro)

Where to eat...or not! / Taverna Sirocco: Update March 2025
« Last post by kokkinos vrachos on March 26, 2025, 05:58:37 PM »
Yassas, unfortunately there is no free water as a welcome drink.

For the bread we put out, we were later charged 5Euro !!! and 1.50Euro for water. Without asking if you want to order it. This bad habit is spreading more and more in Plakias...

Hi All,
Just noticed how much flights to Heraklion have gone up since I last visited in 2023. A return flight is up by around ?250, that is in August with extra leg room seats but no food.
But I'm still going !

Where to eat...or not! / Corner
« Last post by kokkinos vrachos on March 25, 2025, 06:22:47 PM »
Today on the bank holidays (25 March) I ate something in the Corner. I ate a Stepaski for 8Euro. It was good and nice and juicy. In May 2021, I still paid 6Euro for the Stepaski.

Since the Ukraine crisis and inflation, the Corner has raised its prices considerably and the portions have become smaller.

The kebab dish, for example, now costs 11Euro. Tzatziki 4.60Euro. Salads between 6.50Euro and 7.80Euro.
0.5 litre Alfa beer 4.50Euro! There is no water as a welcome drink.

Of course, the three tables outside directly on the new wooden-promenade with a great view of Cape Kakomouri are tops.

"The interventions will be completed by the end of the week according to what the deputy governor of Rethymno Mary Lioni said in the ?Cretan Inspection? and Goodnet.gr, with crews focussing on completing the final checks at this point. On Wednesday, the crane is expected to be removed from the area and then proceed with asphalt works. By early next week at the latest, after months of work by crews and aerial artists, traffic will be dedicated."
