I think it was about 10 years ago that the whole ?food mile? near the harbour burnt down. Now everything is new again and the ?strako is still there.

There are reports in the Cretan newspapers from time to time. But nothing is happening...

The problem is probably that there is no company for this work on Crete, only on the mainland.

There is also a lack of clarity about how to proceed. It seems to be technically complicated...

I assume that the road through the gorge will be closed for some time to come.

I?ve not been to Plakias for the best part of 20 years and not logged on here since 2005. Astonished the forum is still going!

Great memories of visits with then girlfriend, now wife of 16years.


Would love to go back one day, is John/Ostraco still around?
