I agree - destroying the card must be the best option. It safeguards the card owner who, if they have realised the card has been lost will probably have cancelled the card anyway, and also minimises the disruption of your own holiday. I suppose if there is some convenient place to leave a note simply stating that a card was found and has been destroyed, it might save the owner from a prolonged search.

Interesting that there is a connection between Mouses and Ariadne as htese were our two favourite tavernas. Corali was also excellant. Ariadne, in particular was very good value for money.

We enjoyed the group meal at Medusa. I had the Spicy Pork on recommendation from Compage and it was superb.

Back in the UK now and 1/2 a stone to lose - might have something to do with the donuts on the beach!

Thanks Andy and John (Compage). This site has been very useful and the info I've picked up has given us lots of ideas about where to go and what to see. Maybe, once we've been to Plakias a few times, I'll be able to contribute more.

PlakChat / Who Speaks Greek ?

Like the rest of you, it would be good to learn greek (maybe when we've retired and emigrated to Crete - I wish!). In the past we've only had 1 week in Greece each year so there hasn't been time to get into trying the language (other than the absolute basics) and each year I start from sctrach. Maybe this year some words will stick in my brain

Plakias / Crowded Plakias?

Splitting the bill would be easiest for the restaurant but maybe if there are any tee-totlers on a diet in the group it wouldn't be fair on them.

If we pay for our own meals then it is best to pay individually. One method that's doomed to failue is if one bill arrives and then each person puts in what they've calculated as being what they owe - somehow the pot always ends up short!

Heh - I've just realised - I've won! understood your earlier post
Quite a surprise as the counter on my PC has always shown fewer postings than actual. So there are some advantages of being 5 hours behind UK time.

Sorry I was late but I guess no records were broken at 11am. First the PC insisted on checking the hard disk, then it started installling a new print driver!

Looks like the Far Enders have it 'in the bag' - the best sand and, as you say john, no white bits (hopefully not too many red bits though )

Well John - it was a great idea offering the bottles of mythos for the 1000th posting but it looks like we'll need to login while in Plakias if we want to win them - bad timing. Mind you, I suppose we will be in the best place to drink them!

Where to eat...or not! / Vegetarian Food?

From other posts, it sounds like there are plenty of good restaurants in Plakias - one week to go now. Still working in Quebec with a very un mediterranean diet - can't wait to get stuck into the Greek Salads and just about everything with olive oil!

Not a problem for me but Karen doesn't eat meat. When we visit Plakias in Sept. we will probably do our usual thing of studying the menu of just about every eating establishment in the town but if anyone can recommend places that are particularly good for veggie food it would be good to know. Last year in Crete we discovered Briam - it would be good to try it again.
