Thanks Noopsy, it's been a few years since we've been to Plakias so this will be handy, specially for the newer restaurants.

"No news is good news" - no contact from Olympic within 72 hours so I guess we're good to go. :). After many years of visiting Greek islands in September, we've recently started going at the beginning of May and have been blown away by the abundance of wild flowers and butterflies; the only down side being the low sea temperatures.

Looking forward to this late holiday though as I know that arriving back in Plakias will feel like you foot slipping into your best fitting shoes. :)

Thanks for the cautionary note, Ali and Dave. I'll wait until I get another email from Olympic before I book the airport parking. All being well, we look forward to seeing you both in October.

The deal has disappeared now but could be worth looking again tomorrow or another day as we saw the price start at £245, then disappear, then back at £199 a few days' later, then yesterday, £169. I see Bali's still at £169, as an alternative.

We've just booked - 14 nights for £169 including baggage and transfers. Worth thinking about if, like us, you've been looking for a bargain late deal. :)

So sorry to hear this.

Thanks for posting the video. It's been a few years now since we've visited Plakias but we always headed for the shade under the tree whenever we went to the beach. It won't be just the shade we'll miss: we would often see familiar faces there each year. I hope the authorities leave the part of the tree that's still alive. Given a chance, it might grow and eventually re-establish this much loved feature of the far end.

We always got our shade from the Tamarisk trees at the end of the Far End :). Hope you have a great time in Katigiorgis: sounds like you're guaranteed a relaxing time.

Where to stay / Re: Prices

I've just booked some BA flights after several weeks of monitoring prices. The price was the same before and after deleting cookies. Also the same when searching in eBookers and Opodo so I would doubt that BA adjust prices based on whether you've previosly visited the site.

Never tried Lysseos in 7 visits to Plakias. Karen's veggie and they've never had anything that's appealed to her. Hope to try it one dy though.

Stewart said he preferred sunbathing nude so possibly he was meaning walking to Micro Amoudi rather than Damnoni. In September, we often found Micro Amoudi too hot but late October, that certainly won't be a problem. Should be more sheltered than Plakais far end.

Quote from: Barny
A Cretan sails to Greece and says to some Greek men who are standing upon the shore: "All Cretans are liars." Did he speak the truth, or did he lie?

A week later, the Cretan sailed to Greece again and said: "All Cretans are liars and all I say is the truth." Although the Greeks on the shore weren't aware of what he had said the first time, they were truly puzzled.

If someone says "I always lie", are they telling the truth? Or are they lying?

As it stands, I don't see a paradox. Both times the Cretan is lying but this is consistent with the situation where some, but not all Cretans are liars - this one just happens to be one of the liars.
