Holiday Companies / EasyJet Autumn flights

For anyone interested these are now available.  I saved a bit by getting up early but would say the prices are reasonable rather than cheap.

We too have used moto Plakias for many years.  Recommended.  If you donít fancy driving from or to the airport they can provide a transfer.

I tend to agree the wind and the distance will put many off (thankfully).  Also the fact that there is no through road in Plakias.

The building work is very rapid, but when youíre on the beach itself you donít notice it.  And at the end of the day the mountain and sea views remain the same.

Also had it not been for development in the 70ís 80ís we probably wouldnít be here.  So we canít really complain too much.

And yes according to the locals it has been exceptionally windy this summer since the start of July.

I can only agree the speed of development is quite something but otherwise Plakias itself remains largely unchanged.  But now the wind has dropped and the weather is fantastic - here for a while yet so hope Iím not tempting fate!

Yes, I suspect Olympic might pull out which would be a shame.  First brought us here in 1989 I think when I plucked Plakias out of the Olympic brochure never having been to Greece before.  Have come  independently now for the best part of 20 years.  Might cost a little more but picking your own accommodation and getting your choice of room is a big plus.

Maybe, but I cant tell what all the different languages are.  In our favourite eatery I know there were regular visitors from Canada, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, England and of course Scotland.

I suspect trip advisor and Facebook etc are taking over.

Anyway my comments from this last week.  Weather was strange for a few days and cooler than normal I think.  Beaches quiet.  Still a lot of familiar faces from years ago - both locals and tourists.

Bit of development going on here and there, but nothing drastic.

Still same old Plakias.

I have used Moto Plakias for many years and never had a problem.  They reply to emails promptly an provide a reliable service.

If you donít fancy driving after the flight they offer transfers too.

Also it seems the entrance to the gorge has been destroyed and massive repairs required

Iíve used Moto Auto Plakias for more years than I care to remember.  Never had an issue and always reliable.  Alianthos Car Hire also reputable I believe.

At the risk of going on about something unrelated to Plakias, Thomas Cook have only gone and done the same for a family holiday (18 people in total) to Rhodes in July.  To make matters worse they have changed us to a flight before the schools break up!!!  Not a happy bunny trying to sort it out.
I have been happy with Thomas Cook in recent years but now I would not book flights with them too far in advance.

I had booked for 10 days next May into June but Thomas Cook have decided to cancel Friday flights from/to Glasgow.  At first glance their email notification suggested only a flight time/seat reservation change and I nearly missed the fact they had changed my return flight by 3 days!!

When I phoned up they offered either chance to cancel or come back 4 days later than planned Ďat no extra chargeí.  Fortunately I had already sussed that their prices had dropped since I booked so I decided to cancel and rebook saving £175 in the process.

So alls weíll that ends well and the saving will pay for my extra 4 nights accommodation in Plakias!

I share this just to put you on alert to read carefully any emails you might receive from Thomas Cook but also to point out that they are offering some very good prices at the moment - cheaper than EasyJet, Jet2 etc.
