Hi Gang,
Just back from Plakias, two weeks in August. Very busy compared to previous visits at the same times, far end full by 11:30, Antonis very busy at lunchtimes, strange for that time of year.
Did anyone visit this year around May / June times and could comment on how busy it was then and how the climate was?

This was a post from Ostraco (John) some time ago.

I don't know what time of year you are going Susan - but we've just booked a package for early June this year. Flight, transfers and 2 weeks in a self catering room cost us £211 each with 2 sharing a room. Seemed like a good deal, as flights were nearly the same price.
I guess you get more choices if you go DIY - but it's not always cheaper.

Compare that to todays!

I'm on Vodafone and it cost me 39p to send a text (although nothing to receive one).  I made no calls myself but Rob used up all my remaining £5 credit when he rang me on the first Sturday night for a call which lasted 3 minutes at most.  It might have been costing him £2 a minute but it also cost me to receive the call!  It's also a bit hit and miss as to whether the message gets sent instantly and sending by replying too didn't seem to work unless I took the 44 off the beginning of the number and replaced the 0.

By the way, Rob 's on Virgin and his phone didn't work although I read on the Virgin site that you can use your phone abroad if you are on their monthly direct debit service although not, it seems, on the Pay as you Go!

Hi All,
Just noticed how much flights to Heraklion have gone up since I last visited in 2023. A return flight is up by around ?250, that is in August with extra leg room seats but no food.
But I'm still going !

Understand completely what you are saying. I've been going since 1989 and seen small changes but like you say, it's changed.
At least we have the memories of the good times !
