A few years ago there was one in Ostraco (they obviously enjoy a night out).  At first we thought it was a toy it was so big and when it started to fly we looked at Yianni to see if he had a remote control.  Really beautfiul and thankfully no one freaked out and tried to kill it.

Dave and Les, it actually Sofia with the new structure, Gorgona is looking very small between Mousses and Sofia, but you know what they say about size!

Hi, should have replied earlier, but this is the situation in Plakias:
1.  The ATM's have been working all summer, yes there are times they run out of money so always make sure you have sufficient for a few days.
2.  The supermarkets take cards, some of the tavernas do, the big hotels do but not sure about the smaller rent rooms, unlikely.
3.  I have just found out that there is no where in Plakias exchanging Sterling so if you are bringing cash bring Euros or you will have to go to Spilli or Rethymno to change money.
4.  One of the main VAT increases is on processed food which has now gone up to 23%.  So basically all food apart from fresh fruit and veg, milk and bread and spaghetti are not included.  I'm sure that with the increase in the tavernas (which happened a few years ago and was then reduced)  will be absorbed by the businesses for this year.

Maybe I am being thick (no comments please) but have tried to find out from both BA and Gatwick when the flights start and finish but am having no luck.  I have to tell them when I want to fly rather than when they fly, going slightly crazy.

I was talking to a young couple from Derbyshire today who have been here for a week and asked them if they had had a good time.  They said they had had a great time and would definitely be coming back.  They told me they had been to Egypt and Turkey on holiday but found the Greeks to be the most genuine and loved the way they had been treated and looked after during the week.  Considering it was one of the busiest weeks I have known in the 12 summers we have now been here, I think this is great to hear.  I know comments have been made about 'greed' down here but I believe the reaction from this couple is much nearer to the truth.

I hope they hold this price for you.  There are people here at the moment who booked for about the same amount of money but there is a clause in the small print which says Olympic has 72 hours in which to change this price.  So they were phoned the next day and the price more than doubled.  It covers cock ups on the web page.  Hope nothing changes for you.  Will be good to see you again.

Can't really think where this increase has come from.  Certainly in the supermarkets basic supplies have not gone up 15-20% and on our experience of eating out this year we have not seen any major increases.
