Hi All,
well just 24 hrs to go before we are home in our beloved Plakias
& that first ice cool Mythos
If anyone wants to meet up for a drink we are at the Lamon
or at Medousa, do come over and have a chat.
I did mention last week that the Library re-opens on Sun. 7th
It's just past where the old one was
Has anyone done the Chania -Birm Tues flight TOM7203?
Do you remember the check-in flight desk No.?
Very handy to know for the independert flier

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Library re-opens on Sun.5th July,
A bit of a party, so be there
The NEW library is just a little way past the Youth Hostel & the old library,
But now they have a bigger site,
with electricity and therefor a fridge

So sorry to hear about the library, we know most of the guys quite well and they must be devasted it was their whole life,
it was'nt just a library it was a place to sit and chill out and have a quite drink or 2 or 3 or 4, to catch up on the gossip and meet old friends.
Lets just hope they find somewhere new soon.

Coming back last week 15.3Kg over, pleaded all inocent and was charged for 10kg at €11/kg =€110
I don't know  who decides on the rate/kg but it sure does seem to vary

Where to eat...or not! / Medousa

Babis and especialy Despina rearly exceled themselves this year, we ate there every night this year, normaly we eat somewhere else a couple of times but not this year, firstly babis would not let Zell push me up the ramp and either pushed me himself or sent one of the boys (will they ever stop growing?) if she did push me herself she got a very sharp ticking off from Babis. From that 1st night we arrived to the warmest welcome to a tearfull last farewell everything was perfect.
Every night Zell had one of Depina's specials and all bar 2 nights so did I. Babis's wine was the best ever along with his Raki (which I did sample on the odd ocasion. hhmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!)
What makes it rearly special is when Babis joins you for a drink

Plakias / Worrying Development

HEARTBREAKING for us that is the only way to decribe the new developement, already you could hear things like "OLD PLAKIAS & NEW PLAKIAS" mixed feelings amongst the locals, obviously it will be benificiant to certain people and good luck to them, but for some, like those with accomodation it coud be disasterous.
For us I'm affraid the end is in sight no more our beloved Plakias.

Plakias / FIRE

Just got back and 4 fires in 3 days 1st one near the ravine, 2 days later a big fire near Rethmnon, we heard this was started by the drug producers to  deter the police, later in the afternoon it was Damnoini's turn, this lasting for several hours, very spectacular watching the helicopters scooping water out of  Plakias bay, and on our last day 15th a fire at Koxari which meant Zach had to take the western back road out of Plakias, what can I say but WOW!!!!!!! what veiws everywhere lush greenery I can well recomend it for  a casual drive out you would never know you were in Crete.

PlakChat / SMOKING BAN

Being one of the "unclean" I keep hearing various reports about there being a no smoking ban in Greece,
has anyone any definate ideas?
If not, anyone who has recently come back know if it's still permited to smoke in the area in front of the servery in the departure lounge?
