Plakias / what is it?

Many thanks, the car wash did cross our minds but we had many options to choose from!!! The Santa Maria appartments, I think the apprtment is on the top floor [3rd storey]at the front, but am not quite sure, but if so this has a large outside area as a balcony an lovely views I imagine. Our self catering atudio was very basic but extremely clean, the maid came every day, clean sheets and towels every other day, excellent service.
You ask about facilities, well there are none. There is an office type building at the start of the driveway, it says 'bar' but was never open, we just checked in there, all very informal. Santa Maria is quite simply purpose built accommodation, as you have been tols it is only 10 mins walk down the road into Plakias. We loved being out of the town as it gave us the freedom of eating in with quiet surroundings, sitting on our balcony taking it the cool evening breeze, istening the the cicadas. Oh yes, the Olympic rep lived here too, round the back. She has a delightful pet cat, who we chose to adopt, the cat would jump onto our balcony after we invited her and she ended up sleeping on the end of the bed [sorry if you dont like cats, she wont bother you if you ignore her] if you love cats you'll love her.
Restuarants I can recommend, Kri Kri, Harakas and if you want a cheap bite to eat on the go the Gyros bar below the hairdressers, next to the big supermarket in Plakias, I dont know the name but it has a wooden sign hanging out side and is open fronted, you will see people grabbing a bite to eat and you walk by, also highly recommend Panorama up in Myrthios [the village directly behind Plakias] was excellent, try the meze starter and the stufffed zuchini flowers. We also walked to Selia and had an ice cold beer in the taverna there, it looks like a locals only place from outside, but go in and you find yourself walking into a covered terace with stunning views and you may see huge birds of prey [we were told they were vultures!].
Well I have rambled on enough, you'll love it. If there is anything else, please ask, I don't know much but am very willing to share what we descovered whilst there, Regards - Elli
