Gossip / Re: Brexit

We may intend leaving the EU but it is not going to effect our passports and travel this year. There is a lot to be done before the divorce is settled. Just keep enjoying Plakias it isn't going to change and after all we still travelled all over the place before the EU. Might be nice to have stamps in my passport again.

Very sad indeed to see the picture. It has always been a favourite stop on our walks along the valley. We will treasure our photos of a little bit of history and solitude

Just back from our usual two weeks in Plakias and we were delighted with the food at Kastros. The first night we had the kleftico and it was brilliant. Fresh from the oven with so much flavour. Went back a few days later and had the chicken from the oven with lemon and oregano, once again a really great dish. We can also recommend the battered  courgettes. There was a good flow of customers on both occasions and  Yannis was very friendly. Roll on next year. By the way we also tried Elia's in Sellia and that was also superb. Both really good examples of freshly prepared Cretan cooking.

Very sad indeed. His original map and book gave us our introduction to the wonderful walks round about Plakias. Sadly we cannot do all the walking now but he has given us some happy memories and we will be thinking of him in a couple of weeks when we watch the buzzards above the mill.

Don't want to rub it in but just looked by chance and fell really lucky. Also got the 22kg free baggage, must be my lucky year, said he hopefully.

Just booked. Back for yet another stay at Kostas. Decided to let the sea warm up instead of a bit chilly late May as in 2013.

Eating out is still good value with plenty of choice for price and still get all the "on the house" freebies. Prices in the mini markets are up a bit but the bread is delicious as is the fruit.

Just booked for Plakias yet again. This time we have booked with Olympic from East Mids on 21st May with flights by Jet2 at decent times.
