Went a couple of times last month while we were in Plakias. Really good! Had battered squid for starter twice and it was beautiful. Took Jeremy the Jimney with us both times though.......... I know......... lazy gits!

If my customers had been happily paying the price all summer and the VAT was reduced (but my customers didn't know 'cos they weren't Greek) I would be very tempted to boost my profit margins and leave the prices the same.

I suspect that quite  a lot of people would find 'beach nudism' an alternative lifestyle choice practiced by slightly odd people. The best thing about Plakias beaches is that they are clothing optional and people in all forms of dress or none seem to coexist fairly comfortably.

This looks like another reason for going to Plakias in June, along with less wind, lower cost, less people! Actually the nicest beach was probably Shinaria but only a very small naturist area at the left hand corner facing the sea. Damnoni, of course, is beautiful but now a complete non-starter for naturists and Micro Amoudi I've always found just too crowded. Turn round too quick and you don't know what you might run in to . Found a lovely little beach below the Sunrise Taverna at Frangokastello last year (courtesy of Cap'n Barefoot's guide), but never got there this year 'cos Souda was so nice!

Re the beaches beyond Souda. It looks like someone has bought the land for building and then not built anything. The tracks down to the small beaches were all fenced off when we walked round the headland.

Have to say that despite not living in the SE of England, I've never found the meals in Plakias expensive. Some are better than others, and it's not always the most expensive which are the best. Had a couple of beautiful lunches at Delfini in Souda which were around 15euros for two with drinks. And we have in the past cooked in the apartment from time to time.
'A Bar' in Plakias, however, charged me 15euros for 2 coffees and 2 Metaxas, which we bought the following in night in Costas Chrysoula for 9. Now THAT was a rip off. Went back once more to check it hadn't been a mistake on my or their part............ it wasn't. Hell of a price for a comfy seat!!

After a lot of umpty comments on the Sun Beds thread, I feel I should make my feelings on this topic clear. We've just returned from 2 weeks in Plakias and used the far end at Plak, the left hand corner at Shinaria and, mostly, the Plak end of Souda. We saw fat people and thin, young and old, fit and not so fit. We saw one lady who had had a mastectomy, and an English guy who was so bad on his pins that a German on the next sun bed to him had to help his wife get him back to his sunbed on about 4 occasions. We saw gay couples and straight couples. On Plak far end and the naturist end of Souda the proportion of naturists varied from about 50% to 95% but there were always some dressed (I refuse to use the term 'textile' because it's divisive and that's not what I'm about) people. Everyone got on. Nothing sexual happened, in fact the atmosphere could almost be described as 'chaste'.
The Plakias naturist beaches have to be the most relaxed, least competitive beaches I have ever been on anywhere and long may they remain so. I can't wait to return.
