Hi Paul

The warning from Kaspersky has disappeared this morning.

The site is now very slow to open

Regards

Robin

Hi Robin,

Don't think it will have affected your PC, Kapersky should have protected you.
Maybe worth running a system scan.

Maybe you were referencing cached files which is why the warning wasn't going away until your browser downloaded fresh files today.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Paul

Thanks for the information

Regards

Robin

Hello,

I have been getting a warning all today. When just going to the Plakias Forum fromt page I am getting a message telling me "My Computer will be harmed if I open this site ." I am on the site here via a bookmark. Is the site once again being tinkered with or is my computer up to it's old tricks ?.

travellingran.

PS,
It only appears through Firefox. I have just tried Internet Explorer and the message was not there.

Now I am really confused !!!!!!!!!!

Heather,

I agree with you. I had the same problems.

Firefox sent me the German Version:

Als attackierend gemeldete Website!
Die Website auf forums.plakias.co.uk wurde als attackierende Seite gemeldet und auf Grund Ihrer Sicherheitseinstellungen blockiert.

Shortly translated: A attacked registered web-site.

I am working with the newest Firefox version: 3.0.10

Plakias / another question or two

Hi all.
Thanks for all the info so far. It does help with the planning, but at the same time its nice to not know everything and have some things to find out when we get there (does that make sense). After looking through the forum i cannot see it mentioned anywhere if there is a cash point or any where to cash travellers cheques. Help please. Also which are the best beaches within walking distance, and which are the best beaches to go to when the wind really blows.
John & Debbie

During the last two weeks we had no problems with the wind. Sometimes the wind was very strong and one hour later we had no wind.
We spent all days (without of one day due to rain) at the Far End.

We are back from Plakias and we enjoyed our holiday.
Unfortunately, today in the morning we had to say: Bye-bye.

The weather was beautiful. At the beginning of our holiday we had one day with a bit rain and during the last days we had no clouds,
no wind and the sea was very nice.

It was very nice to go back to Plakias very early in the new season. Every day new changes happened, for instance cleaning the beach,
the sunbeds/umbrellas came back to the beach, the surroundings on the beach were cleaned, the grass was cut and so on.

We had so much impressions, staying with our friends, making new friends, the friendly people in Plakias (wherever we were)...

Bye for now!

Plakias / Next Question

Hi everyone. Thanks for the information you have all provided so far. Beginning to look forward to our hols now. Our next question (just to keep you on your toes). During our stay we like to hire a car for a few days to see the area. Is there a car hire firm in Plakias, and where are the must see places around Plakias?.
Cheers John & Debbie

For hiring a car we prefer: http://www.ansotravel.com

According to the second part of your question, it depends on your interests. For instance, you can drive to Frangokastello
and you will see the wonderful coast line. Further I would recommend a trip to Spili, to Agia Galini or Matala.

Thanks for the info. Here's our 1st question. What's all this about a gale force wind that blows, i don't mind as i don't like it too hot. 2nd question, What sort of people go to Plakias, is it mainly brits or is it a mixture. We are getting on a bit (50) and we like it not too quiet, but definitely not rowdy, have we made the right choice?.
Cheers John & Debbie

I believe, you made the right choice.
In our view we love the mixture of many nations. It is very interesting to meet people from other countries.
We enjoy the quietness of the beach, we like visiting the tavernas and the special feeling in the evening
when we enjoy a Metaxa from Denis in the Livicon.

BTW Why are the tree's painted white on the lower trunk, just curious

Many years ago I have heard it is a protection against the sun during the winter and spring,
because the bark of the trees can dry out. It avoids damages on the tree trunk and
the bark of the trees shall be protected.

I have no other idea because I am not gardener.

I've update my online photos and put in some ones from our 2007 and 2008 visit. The 2008 ones are particularly sunset heavy with pics like this:

I've also added some in from last years visit to Lagos and also some wedding snaps.

You can see them all at Ploppy Pics

All photos are very nice and now I am dreaming of our earlier holidays in Lagos.
I like the rocks and the grottoes on the beaches.
