Santa,
Harribobs found it weird (=strange), and not meaning any kind of dis-liking the Christmas tree.
Anyway Santa is a fake it is commercialised Saint Nicholas ( a Greek Saint) and should give presents to the poor children on the 5. december eve of his nameday 6. december.
It is interesting to see that it is celebrated differently in many countries.

Plakias and other coastal places had boats illuminated in the shop, taverna and house fronts. ie a Christmas dec but not Santa. Any body know why? (Apart from the fishing village aspect)

Saint Nicholas is the patron of the sailors and many others, every Greek ship has a small icon / statue of Saint Nicholas on board for protection / save journeys.

Alright- do not get your knickers all bunched up- I was just making a joke- nice link though to the Saint Nicholas story- As a side note, Santa is in Plakias now and had lunch with Nick Papadakis the other day and he confirmed that the Secret Nest Taverna will not be open this year- he is too busy with other work. I can confirm that Meltemi is history and my sources seem not to know too much about what is happening on the site since it is a private site. By the way, are you aware that there is a new harbour being planned just west of town- about 1.5 kilometers? As I understand it it will handle additional small fishing boats and a few private boats- Nothing from China though.
