Title: Paligremnos
Post by: BWI on February 20, 2006, 10:34:18 PM
Hello All
Thinking of booking the Paligremnos for this years visit.  Is it best to wait until later in the year ( are they even open now?).
Any thoughts?
Many Thanks

Well these apartment have their own regular guest every season, I would recommend to make a reservation. You may mail me and I will do it with the owners which I know very well.

i think the peligramnos is not appreciated enough as a good place to eat, mainly because it's a bit too far away from the centre

far enders know it's a great place for lunch, we always go there if we've around..great lads looking after you and bloody good food!!

Agreed - and personally, at the end of a day on the beach   we much prefer the atmosphere (and prices) at the Paligremnos over the beach bar.

I've always found the girl serving at the beach bar perfectly charming, and the drinks perfectly refreshing.  But then I do try to place my order in Czech!

How far are the Paligremnos Studios from the centre of Plakias?  As we will not have a car, are there street lights between the town and the studios? How soon should we book for mid/late September?
Thanks.

I would book now Ewan, it's a popular place.

It's an easy walk to town and takes about 10 minutes but I would double that on the way back.   There is street lighting so you shouldn't need a torch.

We are staying there in September so may see you there.

O.K. So I'm a Scot but where is Paligremnos? After five years in Crete mostly in Plakias, I've missed it. Folk seem to rate it highly though for food and location too. We generally head out towards Prevelli and beyond  for beaches but I can't say I've seen it.

Doggie

the peligramnos is in plakias, head out for the far end, walk out east by the beach for ten minutes or so and it right on the prom

at that end there's only the peligramnos and then a little bit further the plakias bay hotel ( which is really at the end of the beach)

btw there's a footpath at the side of the plakias bay hotel that will lead you over to damnoni, amoudi, shinari

cheers

chris
