Title: Something to discuss
Post by: beachcombers on January 06, 2006, 05:58:41 PM
Stole this of another site.
Any remarks?
Is there a difference between Greeks in general and Cretans?
Or do all Greek think they are Cretans?

NB For me Cretans are special Greeks!

Or should I make a poll?

I've not really been to enough other places in Greece to really comment, but we DO think a huge difference in the people in Thassos (we've been there three times) and Crete

no prizes for guessing who we like the most

Cretans does not need to be told to be proud and neither what to be proud off. It is in their blood. Maybe that is the difference. They don't need a list.

I do not mean that other Greeks are not proud. It's just that that the Cretans are a bit more so.

Cretans are the same - but different!

I've been to quite a few islands, and there does appear to be a basic Greek attitude. But the Cretans do have something extra. Pride, honour and a rich history all come to the fore in Crete!
(It's a bit like the Cornish in England!)
