Hi Cecile and al other P* fans,
Cecile glad you enjoyed the pictures.
Attached are our 2nd day P* favorites
NB Still puzzling who is the little girl dancing on the street. She came out of the bakery at closing time with her mother? I have a realy nice portrait made of her and want send it to her parents but do not want to post it on the internet.
Perhaps I have to send it to Ali and Dave as PM.

Nice photos indeed, beachcombers. Where did you take the picture of that stone building with (what looks like) a chimney? Do you know what that building is?

Hi Noopsy,
On our first day we strolled (without map) around Plakias and found the church, bridge and the old watermill.
The second day (after we had purchased a booklet with map) and tried to find the path down from Myrthos to Plakias via the old watermill. We explored several paths going down at the west side of Myrthos, but did not find the path. During this search we made this picture (birds eye view) of the same church and old watermill.
This path is described in the local purchased walking guide 10 walks around Plakias, but most likely no longer existing.

I bought this booklet at the Plakias market in July but it turned out to be a 1998 edition which I already had, but had left at home. I don't know if Lance has produced a more up-to-date version.
Judging from other posts on this site it seems noone has had much luck finding this path in recent years.

Hi Rodger / any one,
Do you know the condition of the path from the far end to Damnoni beach alongside the cliff. We could not find the tunnelmouth, perhaps we need to go on a small goat path/ridge. One side going ± 10 meters straight down to the sea. This is visible from the far end beach and looks like piled up stones.
Do you have suggestions for updated walking guides?
Kind regards

I bought Lance Chilton's two Plakias books and the accompanying map earlier this year and found the description of the walks pretty accurate and worth the money. They range from moderate to very strenuous and the latter would be too much for most people in high summer (or anytime!). I tended to confirm his timings, although I walk quickly, so those who like to amble would need to allow extra time.
I think they were updated a year or two ago.

Nice photos!
The sea looks incredibly calm, like there's almost no wind at all.
Must have been your lucky day
Enjoy your holidays!

Thank you Harri!
I visited your various photogalleries and was very impressed by your pictures.
NB how do manage to take a large SLR camara with you during walks.
I own a Pentax *IST DS and Canon A510, the latter is my daily standard equipment for anywhere I go. My experience is that wading through streams (which are sometimes surprisingly deep) and sitting on windy sandy beaches can destroy the equipment easily. I carry a plastic watertight back for protection when necessary.

thank you very much, i'm still learning really the D70 takes some getting used to
It's not that big, only the size of a standard SLR, usually i wear it round my neck but if i need my hands as well it goes back in the rucksack, i have also got a lowepro bumbag that i use, and a toploader if i'm carrying all the equipment. i probably should use a waterproof, but i know i'd just forget it

We found the path without a probem this year, going from Plakias to Mirthios via the mill. The path has always been there but in previous years the part just past the mill has been overgrown. This year the bushes have been cut back. The path we took actually went further up the valley than we expected, reaching the road about 700m from Mirthios. Just below the road (50m) was a small church.
