hi guys
just got back from plakias 2 weeks ago, and either cant believe i've been or cant believe i'm back.
anyway i have been going through the forum and i dont think the new villas (2) have been mentioned yet.
they are up the wee side street at the ostraco, kinda in front of the secret nest.
the owner philipous ( a great guy & friend ) is hoping to have them finished very soon. when he showed me round they were only just needing the odd bit furniture and last minute touches.
anyone with a large family or a big group of friends wanting to come to plakias, this is for them. or even if you just enjoy your creature comforts of home.
each villa has 3 double bedrooms with really big fitted wardrobe/drawers etc and all bedrooms has a private balcony. huge fitted kitchen plus eating area, massive living area. 1 toliet down stairs and big bathroom up stairs with a corner bath for added patter. big balcony/terrace outside leading up to your own private pool and garden area ( still in the process of growing ). 1 as a sun terrace on the roof for the sun worshipers and 1 has a fire place for the visitors at the cooler times of the year --- they really are worth checking out.
just in cause your thinking that these are going to spoil the look of the place, believe me they dont they blend in to the surroundings perfectly.
next year they will be advertised on the internet or in brouchers which deal with villas rather than appartments - so we might get a few more tour operators taking an interest in plakias.

i know the ones you mean, they have been built on the land in front of the Dora Studios
-
not sure where dora is - but to my knowledge they are the only villas in plakias...they really would be great for a group of pals. forgot to say that they are fully air conditioned as well

Hi Sheryl, We've been recommended Plakias but were hoping for a villa-they sound great and just what we will be looking for in 2006. You say the owner is a friend-any chance of advance knowledge of availabilty, prices, etc?
Thanks and regards,
Maureen

For the benefit of Maureen and others considering these, I wonder if anyone has any pictures. My recollection is that the area in front of Dora Studios is pretty scruffy.

Mmmn, perhaps the ground has been put to good use now it's been developed.Haven't seen your photo yet, Mike
-
Barny is the next one out, lets see if we can get him to do a pic for us!
(missed him, i think he'd already gone)
-
sorry folks thats my fault. after 17 years i feel as if i have enough picture of the place to sink a ship - should have thought. and yeh i think that the land has been put to good use. obviously the villas themselves are going to look a whole lot better when the grass etc around them has grown.
i will talk to phillipos (fillipos) this week as see if i can find out more...i know he was wanting to advertise on the internet aswell, but that wont be up and running for a while. who ever is in plakias next go to the villas and if fillipos is there, tell him sheryl said to come in and get some pictures inside aswell - i'm sure he will be pleased to show them off
-
ok folks - spoke to fillipos today...the villas will be ready in 2 weeks and he is going to email pictures to me when they are finished so watch this space.
they will be in a broucher and advertised on the internet but we dont know how long that will take to get up and running yet, but when its working i will post the email address here - i get the feeling things are moving a bit faster than fillipos had expected.
and for albertdiver they will be available all year round
the price for a villa is 150 euros per night, (dont know about broucher price)which if you split it between 6 adults or 3 couples works out really good for what your all getting.........everyones got there own budget, but i'm affraid its out of my depth at the moment - back to costas chrysoulla for me
-
just a wee update :- the villas are finished and the owner, how isn't up to speed on computers and emailing has asked for my address to send the pictures snail mail, so hopefully we might get them for christmas
-

I'm going to be real sick sitting on my balcony at the Dora overlooking floodlit swimming pools, it shouldn't be allowed!!
I had a look inside these places last week and they are a bit nice! The pictures don't lie.
Are you the acting UK agent sherylhume1, just wondered?
george g...
-
we will have to be sick together george, coz i wont be staying in them either
but your right they are lovely inside.........i'm no agent though, just mates with the owner. when people on the forum asked for picture i told him to send them across so you could all see them - it just took me long enough to work out how to attach photos to the posts and to change them into a format that would work. got there in the end though
-
all the phone/email/fax numbers for the villas in plakias and lots of other accomadation can be found at www.web-greece.gr . look under villas/apartments and rethymno/ crete. its a good site for getting contact numbers

Hi Sheryl,
Wish I'd known about the villas in Plakias before sorting this year's holiday in Plakias but that's showbiz. We are staying in Plakias for a week and then having a few days exploring the East of the Island finishing with a week in Lefkogia in a villa there which we found last year! Bit pricey but we had a car smash in November 2004 and needed a place to really chill for at least part of our break.
Will have a look at the villas when we are in Plakias from 6th June this year. Can't wait especially with that Siberian wind howling through the Borders! Makes the Plakias gorge whistles seem like the Sirocco!

hi doggie
if there is no one in the villas, tell the owner (phillipos) that sheryl said to come and look at them and he will give you a guided tour - there really smart inside.
have to admit to being curious, looked at your profile - your just up the road, im in jedburgh. i've never seen anyone on this forum from the borders before, its a small world

come along now - I'm not far away - perhaps the wrong side of the Border though
-
yeh john i knew you were close - i meant the "scottish borders". its never happened yet, but it just seems funny to go all the way to plakias to meet someone from afew miles up the road. i am guilty of refering to my holiday place as somewhere on the south coast of crete, i like to keep it for myself
-
Hi Sheryl,
Thanks...will look for Phillipos in June and hope to see round the villas. I'll mention your providing the info and pics!
Know what you mean about keeping the South Coast to yourself! I had a couple of breaks in Retimo/Chania but once through the Samaria Gorge and having stayed in places like Loutro to let the legs repair, and Plakias, we're hooked on the South.
It sure is a small world...I'm in Melrose, for now, but originally a Gala man and spent many a wet and windy afternoon at Riverside, watching not playing. For now though, Plakias June 2006 can't come soon enough.

I'm off to the artimei in 45 minutes, hopefully my kids will leave it standing !!
-
had a fantastic time there..will write some full reviews soon as I get time, but I recommend these villas to anyone.
-
i went up for a quick look at these ( from the outside) and they really do look good!
-
Well My family & my In-laws stayed at the villa alkisti in May.
All I can say is that I do not believe any accommodation in Plakias will ever be able to live upto the luxury you had in this Villa.
We were spoilt, though next year it will be more down to earth, as it will only be the four of us, and these villas in August are too expensive for that number of people.
