I know you guys put a lot of your own time in keeping the site up todate with your replys and comments but i have noticed viewing the site that the local map of the area would be of great use when trying te explain to people where things are

Yes it is something that I would like to add, what we need is a really good map of Plakias. Does anyone have a decent one that can be scanned in?

Then I can start thinking about annotation, marking locations of places etc.

This has been discussed before, on several occasions.

The best we have managed so far is
this. (http://www.compage.com/plakiasproperties.jpg)

I think "this" is very good. Would it be possible to superimpose a light grid on it so that someone might refer to something as say "just to the right of the centre of square B5"

The maps which accompany Lance Chilton's two "Plakias walks" books are very good but it would breach his copyright to copy them I guess. Can be bought from Marengo Publications or in Plakias.

Good man Ploppy.
Enjoy the concert.

Edit: Just had another thought...
How's about this:

We contact Anso Travel to see if they have an updated version. ('this' is at least 3 years old).

If they have, we'll ask permission to use it on the forum.  (and, of course, give them a plug).

Either way, we take a blown up copy with us in September and you and I will spend an hour or two updating it with items of interest to forum members.

Are you game?

Sorry for the late response John.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

I can't stop laughing         I wonder how many jugs of the local plonk you two will go through in order to complete the task.       Best excuse I have heard in a long time.

By the way, I want to be the first to see the map the morning after

Yes I was going to mention that perhaps some vino or Mythos would aid the creative process, however I decided this was a given and didn't need mentioning

Clearly I was right

Susan you are most welcome to come along and help (drink or the map)

What a good idea Ploppy, to ask Susan along.
With her organisational skills to call on, it will leave much more time for drinking.
Are you game Susan?

You'd better hang on to it when we've finished then Susan.
Ploppy doesn't do mornings.

Excellent!
More workers = more drinking time.

Paul has offered to do the graphics.
Susan, could you put together a list of places we should include?
I'll contact Anso to see if they have a later version of the map.

Just remember to present that map the correct way up  - you know - with the sea at the top of the page

Hi Budding Cartographers
Might I suggest that the map stretches from the Oasis apartments and first petrol station at the top of the hill, down to the Paligremnos and the far end, then west to Souda Beach?
That’s a lot of bars to... pass?? I know, but there will be people who want to know about these apartments.

Also to save you guys a lot of time and effort and drinking, why not just add the main landmarks to the map and then add the map to the site like the member location map, then people can add apartments, restaurants and bars that they want added. If that's possible...
I'm sure the brilliant Admin Guys could come up with something!

Anso Travel don't have a more up-to-date version of 'this' but they are happy for us to continue to use it.
My enquiry prompted Adonis to think about getting it updated but I doubt he'll get that done before the off season.

Paul, do you think it will be OK as it is?
Will you be able to blow it up enough to be able to add stuff?
Will you add the grid to the blown up copy so that we can make notes of the coordinates on Susan's list?

Susan, have you got the list of places we need to put on it?
If not, I have some suggestions as to where to get the information.

I'm not fussed but as me and Susan are staying at the Paligremnos why not start there?
I'll pick you up.
Are you at Anna's?

Hi Guys

John I'm so sorry but I must have missed the posting that was aimed at me.

I haven't got a list as such but I have thought about what needs to be included and I will draw up a proper list before we depart. If you have something in mind I will add it to the list.

Are we sure about doing this on the same day as the Plakforms Meet, sounds dangourous to me   What time are we meeting maybe 4ish?

Susan

No problem Susan, we've still got a month to go.

I'm sure your list will be fine, I was just offering to help if you were stuck.

The only possible days were the 14th, 15th or 16th.
I chose the 15th because it leaves me a day free after our arrival day and leaves Paul a day free before his departure day.  It didn't look like an issue for you.
The time is immaterial to me so I will leave it to you an Paul to decide.
