Title: DORA
Post by: George on April 12, 2005, 04:28:35 PM
Hi All
I will be staying at the DORA for two weeks early September this year.
I have walked pasted it on numerous occations, so I know where it is, but have never stayed there. Anyone got any comments about it, what are the room facilities like etc. anything appreciated!

If you use the search facility at the top of the page there have been many postings on Dora as a number of people have stayed there previously. You should get all the info you might need.

Thanks Guys
I already did a search but all I got was the hot water problem.
Have they got fridge, Electric kettle etc?
I'm easily pleased as I am not in the room very often but I do like a glass or three of wine on the balcony in the early evening and a cup of coffee in the mornings.

When I searched for Dora, lots of posts came up although few of them contained detailed information. As the number of posts increases this will become more of a problem.

they've got fridges, kettles and the very basic kitchen stuff

we had a half decent balcony looking over the family's allotment,  i enjoyed sitting there watching the local cats and dogs with odd flagon of wine myself, not much of a view of the see as i remember

it's close to the main street and there's a decent fish restaurant almost next door (secret something- someone will know), the apartments are up a slight hill but we didn't have any problem with that

nice enough people running it, reasonably quiet ( no 18-30's in plakias  )

and this is the dog that lives next door!

Perfect info, just what I wanted to know, and the dog puts the iceing on the cake. I always seem to adopt some kind of wildlife when in town, unfortunately, more often than not, it's the four legged kind.
Thanks for all your help.

NO FEAR  !
This dog is really a nice guy and he´s running around  with his little black friend between the two ends of the Plakias bay all day long. Treat him a donut [apricot]!

Carpe Canem!

they are a great pair of dogs and when you're missing your own mutt, they make good substitutes!

we used to watch the brown one trying to catch butterflies, that was funny!

It's going to be a nice change this year, I usually stay just outside town at the Irida or Santa Maria or the best place ever was Gallini Beach now the Anthos owned now by the Alianthos.
But with First Choice gone needs must. Looking forward to it!!

How's about when we all come back this year we add a detailed report of the places we've been staying at ie facilities, equipment, location, anything that you think might be of use to anyone. Then we won't have to ask, we can go straight to the relevant messages.

This is a good idea. For the last couple of years I have written a review of my resort, accommodation, and the tavernas for Holidays Exposed and Holidays Uncovered and with minimal editing it could be used in this Forum. I'm sure others would also contribute.

Just needs Paul (Ploppy) to allocate an area for it.

I've suggested something similar to Paul - we need an area that would be strictly limited to providing reviews - currently, the forum topics often start on one subject then wander off the original subject. If it were possible, to have a single post entitled, for example, 'DORA', that anyone could edit, then it would be possible for all the information on Dora to be in one place.

Thanks paul - you know your efforts are appreciated by us all but knowing how time-consuming PC stuff can be we'll also understand if you can't do it.

just a thought we could do restaurants/tavernas in the same manner, just adding our own reviews and not wandering off topic (says one of the worst offenders  )

Yep that is what I had in mind. We could do sub-categories for say; Accomodation, Tavernas, Walks, Beaches, Bars... etc etc. Expect something this week sometime.

I think that's Secret Nest.
I have never been there because friends of mine told me that the wine that was served there was terrible and almost killed the flowers (into whose pots it was disposed of in the process)...
Well, maybe they picked a bad day. Anybody got an update on wine quality at the Secret Nest?

And also car hire companies, and ways and means and current costs of getting from airport(s) to resort...

this is where the new section will come in handy, spreading our opinions on these places
