Title: villas ??
Post by: paleo on April 11, 2005, 05:36:03 PM
Our visit in June is escalating in scale. At the mo it looks like self and wife will be there for 2 weeks - plus friend - thats 3 of us for 2 weeks
Then for the first week we will be joined by 2 in-laws.
Then for the 2nd week we will be joined by 3 sons plus one nephew plus 3 girlfriends plus 2 other friends.
I.e week 1 = 5 of us and week 2 = 12 of us (but its all a bit flexible at present)
Now to the nub - has anyone ever had a villa over there - I know we won't get one for 12 people but maybe we can get one for sons and girlfriends.
(We know about the Elgini)

Paleo

Why don't you contact Anso travel in ]click here (http://%5bURL=http://www.ansotravel.com/) the village . They have a number of privately rented villa's and should be able to help.

thanks - yes we'll be contacting the usual suspects - I know adonis from anso just finished building his own villa (to rent out) at the end of last year but that's up nearer rethymnon (he reckons 90% of all villa requests are for the rethymnon region rather that P) - there are a few around P - just wondered if anyone had any direct experience. We looked at the Elgini about 2 weeks ago - fantastic view but a bit of a climb - maybe we can hire the alianthos express as well to take everyone back and forth B-)

Have you seen these? (http://www.plakiashill.com/)

Wonderful views from there as you can see here. (http://www.compage.com/plakias/2004/PlakiasOutskirtsFromKoulesHill0409101112-1341.jpg)
There are 3 small villas.  Not big but the one we went inside had built-in bench seating all around the living room.  You could get a fair few people in one as long as they didn't all want separate bedrooms.  It's about 5 minutes by car from central Plakias.

Re plakias hill - ta - we might look into that
We started out to look at it a few weeks ago but at the entrance from the Mythios road theres a "keep out" - "private" sign - put me off a bit so we didnt proceed. We were told that one of them was up for sale but the problem is the wind - i bet you get a rare old blast up there

We met the owner, Manolis, there last year and he showed us round.  Or rather, introduced us to an English couple who'd been living there for 3 years and they showed us round together.  We got to know the couple quite well and spent some time with them one way or another.

It is a little more windy up there than in Plakias but not much.  They are protected to some extent by the top of the hill behind them.

I doubt very much that one of them is for sale.  Manolis had been letting them on long term lets since they were built but was just planning to start shorter lets too.  He speaks almost perfect English.  I suggest you give him a call if you'd like to look them over.

we've split forces into kids + friends v humans

kids and friends have booked a villa - the villa domeniko - seems to be up the hill behind the ostraco - villa for 10 + pool + large games room (snooker and table tennis) - all seems very wonderful

as for us - this time we've gone back to square one and taken a package - when we booked 10 days ago the package for 2 was only 50 quid more than the flights alone (flights have gone down a bit since then) - sadly we are  billetted at the Kostas Chrysthingbob (not my fave) - in-laws at studios alexandros

we shall see what we shall see
