To the website administrators.
I think that when logging in it would be better if the default situation was that the website did not remember your login ID unless you had taken a positive action to that effect. Currently you have to remember to change the default setting if you don't wish to be "remembered". Most other sites operate in the way I am suggesting.

Yes - I feel we should get a majority view on this before making any changes. Personally, I'm happy with the way it currently is set.

Same here - I prefer user name to be remembered

Maybe a poll would avoid any confusion

I don't see the current status as a big problem. The only hypothetical danger is to the chat board itself and not to any individuals. Unregistered guests can view the contents anyway and could indeed register if they wished to be malicious. So I see little danger in the current situation and hence not much point changing it.
Either way it won't affect those of us us already here if we have already accepted the remembered bit.
There are many much more potentialy dangerous cookies uploaded on to peoples systems unknown to them by many otherwise innocuous webs sites we may visit.

Andy,
I'm a democrat so happy to go along with the majority view.

O.K. As this is a security issue I have voted with Mike G. Having said that, it's not a big deal. Once you had clicked the Remember Me radio button, the site will always remember you thereafter: you only have to make this election the first time you started using the facility. Am I interpreting this right?
