Kalimera, I was invited to dinner at Sifis yesterday.
The food is good, but the prices are now like in the Cyclades.
Moussaka in a small round clay pot a proud 12.20Euro (9Euro 2022, 10Euro 2024). Tzatziki a hefty 5.20Euro (still 4.50Euro in 2022), portion of Chorta 6Euro. You are charged 3Euro for bread and a small bowl of olives as a welcome drink. There is also no more olive oil on the table!
Conclusion: simply too expensive.
The Sifis taverna has had many regulars for many years, especially from Germany, as Sifis speaks German and serves simple but good, down-to-earth Greek cuisine. Another advantage is that the Sifis taverna is open all year round and is the only taverna open in Plakias in winter. Important for digital nomads and residents.

Oh dear, that is expensive, hope its not repeated elsewhere, but bound to be. Our first night will be in Siroko which I am guessing will also be expensive, but it is our tradition to eat there on the first night for the past 20 years.

Sirocco (sic) has really come up in the ranks in the last couple of years - smart revamp and great all round. We ate there 3 times last July and all 3 were excellent. Recommended!

Yassas, the price level in Plakias has risen dramatically this year. You pay ?2-?3 more for a meal than last year. The prices are outrageous...
Water is still free as a welcome drink - with a few exceptions. Olive oil is nowhere to be found on the tables.
I've just spent a week in Paleochora and the price level there is much cheaper (tavernas, bakeries, supermarkets).
