A friend found this in the Daily Mail and I would hate to think that this little bug would spread to Crete's olive groves. That would be the last economic hit they need. Does anyone know if this is a cause for concern yet ?

I sincerely hope not, but if found in 'the Mail' then treat with a little caution, in my experience. Scare-stories sell papers.
Let's hope that it is stopped locally, and fingers crossed for Crete.

Not just the Daily Wail but also on the BBC

Thanks, Tony, for the link.
Let's just hope that it doesn't go the way of Dutch Elm Disease in the UK, I suppose.
I'd hoped that this was just scare-mongering, to sell papers, but perhaps not.

It wasn't scare mongering - the attack was confirmed - hence the action by the Italian Government to introduce controls. However, haven't heard anything since so I hope the threat didn't emerge in Greece or Crete.
