Dunno......at least it was an unread post'...the first for ages ! Perhaps we are supposed to provide the next line..no more than fifteen words.

So....there once was.."a lonely tamarisk tree on a beautiful beach on Crete who really fancied a...."

And I haven't been on the raki...yet....today !

There once was a Far End in Plakias
Where a friend of mine once burned her a**e
She couldn't sit down
'Til her tan turned to brown
But she numbed the pain drinking raki-as.

(Sorry-  poor taste and poor rhyme)

Well it's one way to pass the time whilst we all count down the hrs/days/weeks/months till we enjoy the Plakias sunshine again I suppose!
I like checking the webcam personally however.
Continue with the riddles and poetry if you must.
And don't forget to put your dates in the calendar folks - that will take a few minutes!!
Whats the local brew in Lesvos by the way (other than the raki)??? Amstel, Mythos, Alpha, Fix

I've been to Greek islands other than Crete many times (including Lesvos) and have never seen "homemade" raki like you get in Crete. In Lesvos you can get tsipouro (see Wikipedia) but it is a commercial product at a similar price to ouzo.

Like you I always check out the webcam. They have had some lovely days but also some dreadful ones this winter.

In reply to Daza about the 'local' brews in Lesvos - All the usual beers are available, i.e. Mythos, Amstel, Alfa,Fix, Kraft, plus (a VERY big plus) the best Ouzo in Greece and the world, according to many Greeks I have met all over Greece, and as an avid lover of ouzo, I can confirm that opinion. There are too many made on the island to list as every village has it's own brand of ouzo.
We shall be in Anaxos in June, we normally go to Lesvos at least once a year, to Petra or Anaxos, the only downside is now Thomas Cook have a virtual monopoly on the island for flights from the UK, a very similar situation to Olympic in Plakias. We will be in Plakias, hopefully at the beginning of October as and when Olympic have their sale of last minute holidays.
Roll on June, then October, hurry up with the big lottery win so we can get a lot more Greek time!

We're flying to Crete with BA in May, first to a small village on the NE for a couple of days, to visit Spinalonga, and Knossos again.

Then, on to Plakias (staying Skinos again, thoroughly recommended!).

So, point is, while Olympic don't have a total monopoly, if a cheap package is one's aim, they do in reality.
