Although we have stopped for a day in Plakias before, this will be our first time staying there. I'm not much for sitting on a beach all day and prefer to go off exploring around. Any interesting walks nearby that you can recommend? I do not have what is termed "good walking shoes", preferring flip flops or trainers at a push. I noticed an interesting old mill not too far away - how long does it take to walk there? Appreciate any replies or advice.

Plenty of good walking all round - we never venture to the beach excellent thought it is. Tha walk to mill is nice enough and takes less than 30 minutes - more if you saunter. Walking to the nearby villages of Mirthios and Selia is easy enough (but steep). Walking parallel to Coast East and west is good. Basically, plenty of lovely walks. Though not essential we come in fairly good walking shoes but good trainers should be ok.

There is a small pamphlet, written by Lance Chilton, that we used to get us started. It was available in the supermarket on the sea-front closest to the Alianthos Beach hotel (sorry, can't remember the name).
