Title: buses .train and taxis

The very useful info on bus times in FAQs only details the service to and from Rethimno and the one bus a day to and from Preveli .Is there no longer a service to and from either Galini or Sfakion - the latter was very popular . I mainly use the bus en route to Damnoni to save the steep uphill walk . It now looks as if there is nothing between 9 30 - too early - and 11 45 . But there is also the train - which goes from Plakias to Damnoni first .Does anyoneknow what timne it usually sets off - 10 I think which is still a bit early but better than 9 30 !
And how much is a taxi to Damnoni now ?

To get to Aghia Galini by bus you have to catch the bus to Rethymnon and change onto another bus (coming from Rethymnon) at Bale, which is a taverna in the middle of nowhere - this is near the road junction where you meet the main road after coming up through Kourtaliotis Gorge.

Sorry I don't get out of the resort much!
I do know, however, that the train was out of service last time I was in Plakias - early June. Not sure if it is running yet.

Yes the train is up and running, I believe it started the day after you left John I'm afraid I can't help with the timetable but it is easily aquired in Plakias.

You know, I still haven't been on that train - maybe this year......
