Anyone reading any of my posts will know were off in a couple of weeks and we'll be spending 6 glorious days with our friends in Plak. We have decided to do a bit more exploring this time, and as you guys seem to be a wealth of information I was hoping you could give us some hints.
We will have cars, so travel not a prob, but don't want to spend hours in a car, so anything under half an hour (or longer if worth it, but you get my drift....)
We have 2 kids 12 and 8, love beaches, snorkelling, long lunches. as its August not into walking too much.
This is very much a 'chill out de-stress' holiday
We've tended to stick fairly close to Plak before, favouring Souda Beach, and lunching/late afternoon beers and Connect 4 in the Taverna Galini.
So, is there anywhere that is not worth going to, and conversely anywhere that we really should go to given the above.
Any suggestions/ideas most welcome.
Cheers

Best meal out was the Corali fish restaurant on the front by Ostraco bar. If you like fish, that is.
Best beach - Ammoudaki. Swimwear not much in evidence! Not windy as it's sheltered but take your own food/drinks. Taverna Akti nearby is also a good place to eat. A fair walk from Plakias but as you have a car it's about 15 minutes easy pootle.
The city of Rethymnon is a must - I liked it there. The fortress is imposing but there's not a lot in it - in my opinion not worth paying €12 for 4 of you.
No doubt many other suggestions will head your way!
