Title: Get your money back!
Post by: RobM. on July 25, 2003, 12:49:58 PM
Don't forget to take your empty Mythos/Amstel bottles back - there's a deposit paid on the bottle! Not everywhere tells you that. (hic!)

Really? Damn could have saved a fortune    Reminds me of the days when you would take back your empty bottle of Corona Dandelion & Burdock for a few pence.

Andy if you are feeling nostalgic check out http://tv.cream.org/arkcrest2.htm (http://tv.cream.org/arkcrest2.htm)
for more fizzy fun! I'd forgotten about half of these. Now I'm off to find a website about those lumps of green and white chewy goodness...pacers

My mates (Ahem!) used to pinch the old Tizer bottles from the back of the off-licence and get 3d on them -  they nicked the same bottles 44 times before the owner latched on...  !

Ahh yes, leaving you with a rather black tongue I seem to remember although I preferred Fruit Salads myself.

Off to locate my life!

Get outta here!   Rhubarb and custard!  Flying saucers!  White chocolate mice!

Who remembers Aztec bars or Five Boys?

Flying saucers... rice paper disc wotsits with sherbert inside... fantastic!

I remember Aztec bars but not Five Boys.

What about:

Texan bars ... A mans gotta chew what a mans gotta chew
Wham bars... pink slabs of teeth rot with green and yellow fizzy bits
Spangles... loads of different flavours including that horrible manky brown one
Quatro... Lilt like drink in cool packaging
Tales of the unexpected... That woman dancing in the credits gave me nightmares
Panini sticker albums... Actually completed one once although I spent the equivalent of a small country's GNP

Whilst enjoying the trip down memory lane and realising that all of you here are in the same sort of age bracket (I remembebr when they were Marathons), I would however like to return to the original starting post.
Yes I am amazed that you get a 'deposit' back on the bottles, not that I'm bothered but how much do you get back - only thinking this could be a good excuse to get the kids to take them back and earn some sweet money ????

OK.....my favourites were the Horlicks tablets you used to get, and yes I used to 'recycle' the Tizer bottles or the best drink ever - R Whites Cream Soda - with the local Off Licence, till they indeed discovered and then put a marker on any bottle you brought back.

Cheers all

16 days to go

Yvonne - I'm not old, just life-experienced!
Worrabout Jubblies? Always leapt out the carton if you squeezed it too tightly.
The 'manky' brown spangles- weren't they 'Old English'?

Yes RobM, they were 'Old English' and weren't they delicious!!  They don't make them like that any more.  I used to love spearmint strips (bright pink) too, whatever happened to those?  It would appear we are in the same age band - ah. yes, I remember them well!
