Title: The cheapest & quickest way from Herakion (Airport) to Rethymno

Hi all,

I have finally managed to have my trip to Plakias for two weeks - approved by my bosses (although that would mean working overtime for two weekends) *weeping*.

I am going to meet up with a friend at Rethymno (Old Town).... what is the cheapest and quickest way to get there?

My flight will be arriving at around 1.30 pm on 27th.

Walk out of the airport, to the road, look for bus stop, catch bus to heraklion, every 10mins, 2euro. Get off at Platia Eleftherias, Walk down Dedhalou toPlatia  Venezelou, down 25augustou, turn right for bus station, catch bus for Rethymnon,every 30 mins. Leave Reth bus station, follow sea on left, after castle turn into old town. Sugest meet ar Rimondi fountain

Hi Mickeydripping.
Very timely comments. I am looking to travel to Plakias in June. Haven't booked any accomodation yet because of travel to resort. Assuming from your information, i would do the same journey, & catch another bus from Rethymnon to Plakias. A longer journey than by taxi, but considerably cheaper. Any further details wopuld be great. Thanks Mark

No problems...but bus service to plakias from rethymnon is not very frequent....check on KTEL website for times.
