Can anyone explain why the new harbour is being built where it is?
It seems to be in the middle of nowhere and I can't see how it will aid Plakias or its people, as it is well out of the main town.
We watched it gaining size during the last 2 weeks in September and if they carry on at that rate then by next September it should be completed.
But I don't see the reason for building it where it is.

I think I remember reading somewhere (probably on this forum) that it is for the fishing boats, which will leave the harbour in the village for the tourist boats.

During our holidays at the beginning of May an employee from Anso Travel told us that the new harbour would be a safe port for all boats.
As I remember he said it depends on the strong wind. He said also, if the wind is too strong (during the winter months) than the boats must get
out from the sea. I think the wind direction is an important part.
I hope that I found the right words and you can understand it.

Hi Kerstin,
Thanks for the information and it was perfectly understandable - much better than my German.
