Title: Weather in Plakias
Post by: jenny on September 22, 2007, 12:14:12 PM
Not too bad, getting a bit warmer next week, due to plummet again by 05 October, better pack sweaters and more socks after all??????

[a href=\'index.php?act=findpost&pid=0\']Weather in Plakias[/a]

Errr, that didn't work then!  Anyone help me out?

http://www.accuweather.com/world-forecast-...AS&metric=1 (http://www.accuweather.com/world-forecast-15day.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&locCode=EUR|GR|GR000|PLAKIAS&metric=1)

Well how weird, the last time I typed in a full address for a link, it didn't work as a link, although similar had done previously on other forums.  Someone on here kindly told me to use the 'Insert: Post Link' facility, so this time I did, but it didn't work (top one).  So then I edited and pasted the full adress - and it automatically turned into the clickable link above???????????????

Hi, Jenny,

Doing a bit of chop'n'change, what you originally posted was ....
Code: [Select]
[post=0]Weather in Plakias[/post]

Errr, that didn't work then!  Anyone help me out?

[url="http://www.accuweather.com/world-forecast-15day.asp?partner=accuweather <forced break> &traveler=0&locCode=EUR|GR|GR000|PLAKIAS&metric=1"] <forced break> http://www.accuweather.com/world-forecast-...AS&metric=1[/url]
{Note: to stop long text lines flowing off the edge of the screen, I have had to split the one-long-string with "<forced break>" insertions - they aren't needed in the proper code.}

What you should have posted is ....
Code: [Select]
[url="http://www.accuweather.com/world-forecast-15day.asp?partner=accuweather <forced break> &traveler=0&locCode=EUR|GR|GR000|PLAKIAS&metric=1"] Weather in Plakias [/url]Which looks like this ....

 Weather in Plakias  (http://www.accuweather.com/world-forecast-15day.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&locCode=EUR|GR|GR000|PLAKIAS&metric=1)

The basic format is [ url=http.....all that URL jazz ..... ] a bit of helpful text [ /url ]

So, I can see what you are saying - but I still don't really understand the intricacies of this at all, I'm afraid!

In both cased I merely pasted in what I had copied in my browser bar - in the first case I right clicked in the first box in that there "Insert Link" window, and then added the legend Weather in Plakias in the second box.  Cause I thought that was what it was asking me to do??????????

In the second case I right clicked in the post itself and pasted, and that one works.  Although as I said I'd tried that before and it didn't.

I wouldn't bother trying to persevere with explaining to me actually - I am not going to lose any sleep, but it is just useful, sometimes LOL

PS was that bit in blue supposed to be clickable?
Title: Weather in Plakias
Post by: Chas on September 23, 2007, 11:28:26 AM
The "bit in blue" is what would be clickable - the " Weather in Plakias " is what was actually clickable ... dunno if that helps or not.

There is no reason to not paste a web address directly from the box-at-the-top into your post ..... but some addresses go on and on and can spill off the side of the screen (which on some boards means the whole thread needs to be scrolled sideways!), so I use the URL-tags to hide the long string and put in a bit of "helpful" text instead.

Whatever works for you is right.

To make it even more simpler Jenny, what I've down in the past is to copy the address onto your message, then cover it and type LINK.

I'm with you all this computor talk leaves me a bit light headed.

To be on topic,  the weather was not good the last few days, sunny, but with clouds (yesterday was cloudy) and some little rain and of course lots of wind, my first two weeks were good, maybe the last 3 days wil improve.

I'm having a wonderfull time anyway.

Steven.

Sounds like we left just before the weather turned - although, truth is, I know where I'd rather be - rain or shine

I'm with you G&K, as long as there is some red wine and some raki, I'd be quite happy snuggled up in the back of some bar

Another good reason to avoid the north coast - those mountains seem to trap all the clouds .... very few make it to the south (http://www.chatitaliachat.it/serpe/ride/113.gif)

We noticed around Heraklion, many of the houses had pitched roofs. We wondered whether that was just a fashion choice or whether it indicated that it was wetter there. They seemed out of place to our minds.

John

Due to be the same temp tomorrow Fri and bit hotter Sat, then will gradually drop to low 20's until Thurs/Fri, then it starts to pick up again.  According to Accuweather that is! - it was 26 today, 'Real Feel' 27 so your body clock or their thermometer is 3 degrees adrift.  I don't care at all what the thermometer says, if it feels like 30 that's well hot enough for me!

So what do you guys (Naturists) do in the winter Jenny, besides turning the heating up  ??

Ah well we're naturists not exhibitionists and neither are we nutters; so we only take our clothes orf if the ambient temperature is suitable - not as a 'matter of principle' as some individuals who the media seem to prefer to follow - so we generally as you say turn the heating up, wear thicker clothing and eat more 'comfort' food.  We attend the occasional indoor naturist event - eg a particular naturist club take over Waterworld at Stoke-on-Trent for a night every 3 months or so, that's a good wholesome fun night out for naturist "children" of all ages.

One of the things they have is a huge outdoor jacuzzi (must seat about 30 or more), you swim through from the indoor wavepool, I have sat in that as warm as toast in January when it was snowing (it's fine as long as you keep your shoulders under!) laughing at the poor lifeguard sat on her seat atop her ladder, wrapped up like an Inuit, wet and absolutely frozen.  'Come in here with us, it's lovely!' we shouted.  She replied for two pins she'd be undressed and in like a shot - except she'd get the sack!

Other than that sort of an evening, we also use our own hot-tub quite a lot!

And of course - still continue to do all the other totally normal things that all the other totally normal, well adjusted people with jobs, friends and families, do!

Evidently it's horrendously if not scarily windy at the moment. P&D just got an email from Maria at Flisvos.

Extra superglue on the syrups I think  .

it has been very very windy for the last couple of days but still sorching hot sun, not really beach weather, we had some similar days the week before, one of which was cloudy and cold as well (not very nice) but if you can find a nice corner of a cafeneon or taverna to hide in

(we had a couple of beers in Antonis and thought of you George  )

Just returned from 2 weeks in Plakias, (June 3rd - 17th.) wonderful weather, hot, no clouds, only 2 days of 'The Plakias Wind' but nothing to worry about, especially around Costas Chrysoula pool. I was told it was going to get hotter.

Oddball: This engine's been modified by our mechanical genius here, Moriarty. Right?
Moriarty: Whatever you say, babe.
[giggles]
Oddball: These engines are the fastest in any tanks in the European Theater of Operations, forwards or backwards. You see, man, we like to feel we can get out of trouble, quicker than we got into it.
Kelly: [looking skeptical] Got any other secret weapons?
Oddball: Well, yeah, man, you see, like, all the tanks we come up against are bigger and better than ours, so all we can hope to do is, like, scare 'em away, y'know. This gun is an ordinary 76mm but we add this piece of pipe onto it, and the Krauts think, like, maybe it's a 90mm. We got our own ammunition, it's filled with paint. When we fire it, it makes pretty pictures, scares the hell outta people!

And we have a loudspeaker, when we go into battle we play music, very loud. It kind of... calms us down.
