This property is located away from the centre of the village in a quiet and secluded spot down an unlit stony track.  The owners can arrange a taxi transfer from and to the airport at €170 both ways, not, however, using a Plakias taxi firm, and this can cause problems.  The property has no signage saying what it is, it has no reception, and no one was there to 'meet and greet' me on my arrival.  A passing local taxi driver who saw me sitting outside happened to know the owners, and kindly fetched the key to my room for me.  The accommodation comprised a double bedroom with a balcony, a sitting room in which was another bed, and a bathroom.  The sitting room had its own separate balcony.  Furnishing was simple, in the usual Cretan style, and the whole was generally in good decorative order and repair.  On the table in the sitting room a roll of bin-liners had been left out, and also a note from the owners scrawled in pencil welcoming me and giving their 'phone contact numbers.  In the sitting room there was also an electric cooker, a fridge, and selection of crockery and cutlery for those who wanted to cater for themselves.  No meals are provided by the owners.  The wardrobe would have been a bit small for 3 people but was adequate for my needs.  Inside there was a plentiful supply of blankets and spare pillows which would have been useful for anyone staying during the cooler months.  The bathroom did not have a bath, only a shower.  However, it had neither an overhead fixing nor a curtain so everything got soaked (albeit not for long) whenever I took a shower.  No soap is provided.  There is also no shaver socket but you can shave in front of the mirror in the bedroom.  Rooms are cleaned once a week on Thursdays.  This is not really satisfactory not least of all due to the fact that with the ban on flushing toilet tissues/paper down the toilet, the bin was beginning to smell a bit toward the end of the 7-day period!  I met Nikos for the first time 6 days after my arrival when he came to check my return flight details...  I consider that at €30 a night (first 2 weeks in September) this accommodation is poor value for money, and merits only a ** rating.
